Groves made Froch look like an amateur for 6/7 rounds in their first fight. Calzaghe would have done that for the full 12 if they had fought when Froch was chanting for it. I think he was more concussed than anything else the first few rounds to be fair after that big right hand that dropped him, he then recovered to stop GG, then in the second fight Froch knocking GG unconscious in front of 80 thousand people at Wembley showing who actually was the amateur and who is the total professional boxing star!

Calzaghe would have whopped him on points though.

Calzaghe always struggled against slick operators - he had a lot of trouble with Robin Reid, and Ward is a way better counterpuncher and all round fighter than Reid ever was.

It's a shame that Ward's career has been stifled by contractual issues, because I believe he is a truly special once in a generation talent.

Let's not forget, that Calzaghe had serious trouble with Brewer and could definitely be hit and hurt - I think that he would have beaten Carl on points comfortably, but no way do I see him giving Carl a thrashing, Carl is too good for that. The only person who has ever dominated Carl is Ward, and Calzaghe was never as slick or cagey as Ward, he was a full-throttle, fast-handed aggressive fighter, who thrived by applying constant pressure, and dominating his opponents, not a super-elusive master boxer.

James- calzaghe had 'serious trouble' with brewer????? He won about 11 out of 12 rounds and punched him in the face about 600x

I mean, the ref actually came to brewer in the corner on two occasions saying he had to do more or he was going to stop the fight as brewer was being a passive punch bag. And THAT is giving serious trouble?

Plus calzaghe won 4 out of the last 6 rounds vs Kessler by playing exactly the kind of elusive boxer you say he wasnt. He tried dominating Kessler by swarming, he took too many counters, and he turned to picking and poking from the outside.

His career is riddle with question marks hence why he is pathetically trying to stay relevant in the boxing world.

Elastica's 1st album was brilliant. Shed Seven has a couple of excellent singles. There was also Radiohead, Pulp, the Manics, Super Furries, Supergrass, Suede...the 90s was a fvcking great decade for British music.
