There are hand picked opponents and there are hand picked opponents! Fought once in 7 years. Looking forward to this epic fight.

If Roy's aiming so low as to humble a limbo dancer I'd have loved it to have been 'Billion Dollar' Mathew Ellis.

In the eyes of the MBC everyone has a 'world ranking'

There's a certain logic to that.

I look at the match up and have mixed feelings, great for Moran as he will be in the ring with a legend. Then i think people are going to pay to watch this fight. Then I think What the fcuk is happening to boxing? Then i think What the hell lets all join hands and sing a John Lennon song, 'War is over'

Moran has been active in MMA (different I know, but at least he's not been dredged out of TOTAL retirement)

I read about an exhibition bout that John Mugabi had with a hand picked opponent, the bout was in London, in the 80's (I think) and the bloke have iit a eight go - I think I remembered the ref stopped the bout as they were both really going for it.

I think that was against Andy Wright? If I recall correctly it was originally billed as a legit fight but there was some issue with Mugabi's license (I may be wrong about this, was a long time ago) an exhibition was approved so Mugabi could appear on the bill, Wright went at Mugabi as if it was still a 'real' fight, Mugabi responded in kind until the ref called time on it (something like that anyway?)

MBC International Cruiserweight Championship apparently, wonder what's happened to Jones' WBU title?
Mark Prince holds that title?

In all seriousness, Paul Economides v Prosper Ankrah should be a cracker. Ankrah is ranked in the top 100 on Boxrec, and much higher than Paul. Fight of the night.

Yeah, that should be excellent. There is something strange about Roy Jones fighting Tony Moran , and I'm not sure what to make of it, but those two we have mentioned should be crackers

How has the other Quigly faired? The one that boxed Paul Smith, k read he'd had a really bad time of it. Hope he's better.

It's a crime it's not on film

And did Dean Cooper look like Paul Weller as it said in the Independent article?

No,really can't see the resemblance at all,Coops has a round face and Weller's quite weasel-like isn't he ?
Haven't heard what Weller's jab or head-movement is like though ?

'Weasel like' .. spot on that

I once read that Weller was quite tasty in a scrap, his dad had been a decent amateur and taught Paul to box when he was a youngster.

Hopefully Tony at least does himself some justice and gets his life back on track after this fight.
