You're right, it did end with him winning a 'world title', funny really as that fight is not what Ward will be remembered for as you well know.

Hope they've got a decent CGI budget to help Boomer out with his physique

Southpaw with Jake Gylenhaal is the one for me.
Southpaw looks class.

The Fighter is my fav though, will do well to beat that.

Also, after subjecting myself to the trailer, has anyone mentioned that it was perhaps Bellew's performances at press conferences that got him this gig?

Didn't apollo die in like 1984 ?

His son would be about 40 now.

I wonder if they portray him as a heavyweight? he looks kind of small.

Wondering that, especially if he has Rosado and Bellew as opponents! A middleweight and a cruiser!

Stallone was too small to be a heavy and they worked around it, and he looks like they cast him so as to not make Sly look too little, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's supposed to be a heavyweight.

Looks quite good to me.

Message boards on IMDB saying he's a LHW.

Think Rocky 4 was 1985 so he could be 30 ish?

so Bellew got noticed for acting like a pr*ck, and that's how he's going to portray himself in this film - and he was up for that?

If I acted a prick on camera and then consequently got offered decent money to act a prick again on the big screen, I would.

He's lairy and loud-mouthed, not total low-life scum.

I actually think Tony Bellew comes across alright.

Bit of a loud mouth but he seems a decent enough lad.

Died in 85, in this film his son is 28, meaning he was born in 86/87.

This will be a great film mark my words :TU: Any real fan of the Rocky films will not care that Creed is a "sourpuss" You probably would be aswell if your old man was killed in a boxing match with Drago! I'd be well pissed! Also wouldn't you look bloody weird if you'd have had the career that Rocky Balboa has had?! I'm surprised he's even still alive after the Creed x2, Clubber Lang! and the Drago fights! give him a break jeeez!!

What is a "real fan of the Rocky films"? His dad died 30 years ago, before he was born, he should get over it!

They couldn't show him smiling or doing anything that wasn't brooding or petulant?

Why should I care about this weiner? I hope Bellew lays him out.

That interview someone posted earlier in the thread has Bellew saying they were looking for a British fighter who looked like he could have a football fan following, and they were after a guy of a "certain size" and that he was a "fat lad" or words to those effect, and that helped him to get the part.

Wonder if they're basing the character a little bit on Hatton?

Hmmmm In that light the casting of Bellew makes sense.

I always wondered why they'd choose a difficult to understand scouser with a rather unathletic body.
