He just sounds slow, when you actually listen to him he isn't thick.Shambles wrote:Ha, bit harsh! I've thought that about fighters before but now wonder how well I'd do in front of a camera, worse than Terry I reckon!Fuzzy Warbles wrote:How did Terry pass his Brain Scan?

Ustinov is a big lump and wouldn't be intimidated by Joshua, I'd love to see that (I still can't help but think of him as being called Peter Ustinov).tony1234 wrote:Ustinov v Joshua would be educating
Liam Walsh v Sampaio up now. Not seen Sampaio before but he looks small.

Walker looks alarmingly fragile, he should pack it in if this is all he has to offer.

The idea of Walsh fighting for a world title is...worrying...
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Beats Martinez IMO, problem here is that Sampaio is running round the ring away from him.Boxing Prospect wrote:The idea of Walsh fighting for a world title is...worrying...

True enough RE Martinez, but that shows what a paper belt that is. The other 3 champions are so far ahead of him.
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Realistically he's 4-5 fights away from their level and he needs a few tests against international opposition, but if they can get the Martinez fight they should go for it. At 29 he needs a big fight, he's already ranked 3 with the WBO, this will probably push him up to 1 or 2, could even get him made mandatory, if it's over here there's no reason not to take it.Boxing Prospect wrote:expe wrote:Beats Martinez IMO, problem here is that Sampaio is running round the ring away from him.Boxing Prospect wrote:The idea of Walsh fighting for a world title is...worrying...![]()

Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Why is Francis doing the interviews? Get Frank in so there's a chance we might hear something interesting.
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
When you see Butler's entourage holding all those belts, it makes you realise just how many belts there are out there these days...
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Does anyone remember a show from a while back when Francis sounded hammered? Hilarious.
I thought that was a strange fight in the sense that as an away fighter I thought Sampaio would give it more of a go but didnt, then again Walsh looked so much bigger than him but struggled to get to him until he switched stances

Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Not impressed here by Butler, yeah he's winning but...not really...looking like a world class fighter either...maybe it just my imagination but...the Tete loss looks like it took something from him and could take a little while to get back that confidence.
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Problem for me is his footwork, it is very good but in many ways it hinders him. Instead of slipping shots and countering he springs back out of range then looks to counter, at world level that isn't going to work and there's too much spring in his step, very bouncy but he doesn't look as if he plants his feet enough. If they slow his feet down a bit and work on his straight punches he'd really come on IMO.Boxing Prospect wrote:Not impressed here by Butler, yeah he's winning but...not really...looking like a world class fighter either...maybe it just my imagination but...the Tete loss looks like it took something from him and could take a little while to get back that confidence.
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Howard Foster does stop them early quite a lot doesn't he. Bet Luke Conlan is glad he wasn't managing the ring last week in Dublin as he was around 30 seconds on the ropes getting battered without much if anything in response.

Re: flannigan vs zepeda
The idea that he'll be fighting for a world title in 6 months is rather funny. Which champion does Francis think he'll get?
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Arroyo/Villaneuva or WBO if Inoue moves up. Francis is talking shite anyway, he'll fight Conlan in an eliminator either at the end of this year or early next year, possibly a fight in between depending on how long Conlan takes to recover. After that they'll start to look at world titles but that will be 12 months down the line IMO.Boxing Prospect wrote:The idea that he'll be fighting for a world title in 6 months is rather funny. Catterall's face looks like it's made of plastic.
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
HF could have administered a standing count, given himself and the fighter a chance to clear his head and stop panicking, then the fight could have continued. Shame that, it was an interesting fight.
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
No standing counts, fighter has to go down for the ref to start counting.Neil Gee wrote:HF could have administered a standing count, given himself and the fighter a chance to clear his head and stop panicking, then the fight could have continued. Shame that, it was an interseting fight.

Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Inoue has made it clear he's not moving up, he's said he's targeting Yoko Gushiken's Japanese before moving up. Not sure where the idea that Naoya is moving up has come from. He was recently on a show with Yamanaka and the two were asked about fighting, and both essentially said "not any time soon, we're in different divisions".expe wrote:Arroyo/Villaneuva or WBO if Inoue moves up. The IBF title winner might make sense. Inoue certainly doesn't and won't be a travelling fighter, the WBC champion won't travel here, the WBA title is tied up in a complete mess (Kono Vs Kameda is happening when Kono recovers from an injury)
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Trouble is belts and titles make bouts more attractive to the genaral public. The proliferation of belts wouldn't be happening if it wasn't profitable. The fans are to blame in the end. If we didn't watch it they wouldn't do it.milpool wrote:When you see Butler's entourage holding all those belts, it makes you realise just how many belts there are out there these days...

Have you ever noticed how Marcus McDonnell holds his hands when he's moving round the ring?
Looks like he's about to do a conjuring trick or something

I like Caterall...but this has been a horrible fight
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Where's Foster when you need an early stoppage...
Re: flannigan vs zepeda
Horrible fight that, don't think I've seen so many points taken before.
Hoping the Flanagan fight will be better!
