Re: Green vs Kovacs in Melbourne, August 19th

A scrappy, messy fight IMO. Both fighting at a unsuitable weight both gassed after round 4 or 5.

China have to be the sleeping giant of boxing with such a large population and, at least to my knowledge, not too many participating at the highest level in boxing.fox wrote:Smithy had a couple of Chinese fighters at his last show in Toowoomba. Not bad fighters and one of them upset Kris George.Redback Rasta wrote:Card starting to flesh out a bit >>>
Green vs Kovacs - 12 rounds
Brubaker vs Xing Xin - 10 rounds
Meunier vs Ahio
Can't think of too many Chinese boxers who have visited these shores.
I'm sure there will be other fights added in the lead-up to August 19th.
He must be running out of holiday leaveKelandbeave wrote:Greens a bogan bum just like yourself..... smoke itbuster007 wrote:yeah, I think green brings excitement and energy to boxing that is invaluable to the sport here.
Enjoy yet another 14 days holiday
Kovacs struggled to make light heavy in his last outing so i dont think the extra weight would have been to his detriment. he would wlecome it.MidniteProwler wrote:Kovacs is rubbish and Green is making him fight 5kg above his usual light heavyweight limit, garbage fight that only the uneducated mass's will enjoy.
He weighed over LHW. He's a palooka who has been picked for a reason the extra weight won't phase him he's here to get KTFO and make Green look good. Like with Shumenov before his unification fight with Hopkins.amwsnw wrote:Kovacs struggled to make light heavy in his last outing so i dont think the extra weight would have been to his detriment. he would wlecome it.MidniteProwler wrote:Kovacs is rubbish and Green is making him fight 5kg above his usual light heavyweight limit, garbage fight that only the uneducated mass's will enjoy.
Weight unlikely to be any kind of factor in this one.amwsnw wrote:Kovacs struggled to make light heavy in his last outing so i dont think the extra weight would have been to his detriment. he would wlecome it.MidniteProwler wrote:Kovacs is rubbish and Green is making him fight 5kg above his usual light heavyweight limit, garbage fight that only the uneducated mass's will enjoy.

Why do the media say he starved himself when he fought Mundine?Like a Boss wrote:Danny Green desperate to ensure comeback doesn't fall flat
Four-time world champion Danny Green says he has trained harder than ever for his return bout to avoid joining a litany of boxing greats whose returns from a long lay-off ended disastrously.
Green, 42, will end his three-year hiatus when he fights former world title contender Tamas Kovacs, a Slovakian slugger four years his junior, at Melbourne's Hisense Arena on August 19.
"I'm focused on what I have to do," Green replied when asked if he had thought about other fighters whose comebacks didn't finish well.
"I'm ready to roll, I'm very positive and I know when the bell goes I'll be in good shape.
"Physically I'm in great nick and mentally I'm in a very good space because I haven't cheated and I haven't cut corners. I've done all the hard work and I'm looking forward to fighting."
The Slovakian has lost only one of his 26 fights – a TKO in the third round of his WBA light heavyweight world title fight against Beibuit Shumenov 18 months ago – and Green was preparing for an "awkward" exchange.
"I've been sparring awkward boxers because my opponent is very awkward," Green said.

I have sent journos messages before and received replies. If you feel strongly enough about what he has written send him a message. Pointless complaining here when he won't even read this forum.DA GOOSE wrote:Like a Boss wrote:I don't think he will take any notice of me mate.DA GOOSE wrote:
