A scrappy, messy fight IMO. Both fighting at a unsuitable weight both gassed after round 4 or 5.

Can't think of too many Chinese boxers who have visited these shores.

I'm sure there will be other fights added in the lead-up to August 19th.
Smithy had a couple of Chinese fighters at his last show in Toowoomba. Not bad fighters and one of them upset Kris George.
China have to be the sleeping giant of boxing with such a large population and, at least to my knowledge, not too many participating at the highest level in boxing.

One exception, and I doubt he'll go that far, is a giant heavyweight by the name of Taishan Dong. The guy is 2.1 metres tall, weighs about 130 kg and is now 5-0. But he appears to have huge deficiencies and will probably fail spectacularly when he meets a big guy who can hit.

Kovacs struggled to make light heavy in his last outing so i dont think the extra weight would have been to his detriment. he would wlecome it.

He weighed over LHW. He's a palooka who has been picked for a reason the extra weight won't phase him he's here to get KTFO and make Green look good. Like with Shumenov before his unification fight with Hopkins.

Weight unlikely to be any kind of factor in this one.

Kiwi heavyweight Hemi Ahio's match up with Andre "The Giant" Meunier on the Green undercard promises some fireworks.

Ahio is explosive and is undefeated after 6 fights. Some have compared his style to a young Mike Tyson.

Meunier is a former world kickboxing champion with 40 kickboxing bouts (31 wins and 21 KOs), in addition to 9 wins and 1 loss in the boxing ring.

That's not very nice. But many of Green's fights are boring Flores,Cameron,Drews,Siaca,Briggs etc.

The Cameron fight was brutal, what wasn't to like. Green schooled a skilled fighter in drews, Flores was highly rated and I thought it was competitive the other two were crap. I wouldn't say boring!

The question is: "will Main Event televise all the bouts", as they have not done so always in the past with recent telecasts?

Danny Green desperate to ensure comeback doesn't fall flat

Four-time world champion Danny Green says he has trained harder than ever for his return bout to avoid joining a litany of boxing greats whose returns from a long lay-off ended disastrously.

Green, 42, will end his three-year hiatus when he fights former world title contender Tamas Kovacs, a Slovakian slugger four years his junior, at Melbourne's Hisense Arena on August 19.

"I'm focused on what I have to do," Green replied when asked if he had thought about other fighters whose comebacks didn't finish well.

"I'm ready to roll, I'm very positive and I know when the bell goes I'll be in good shape.

"Physically I'm in great nick and mentally I'm in a very good space because I haven't cheated and I haven't cut corners. I've done all the hard work and I'm looking forward to fighting."

The Slovakian has lost only one of his 26 fights – a TKO in the third round of his WBA light heavyweight world title fight against Beibuit Shumenov 18 months ago – and Green was preparing for an "awkward" exchange.

"I've been sparring awkward boxers because my opponent is very awkward," Green said.

Because they can't deal with the fact that Mundine gave him a boxing lesson, when they were so sure Green was going to Ottke him early.

Kovacs has a bulging disc in his neck which he hoped he would to be able to manage through the fight. But it now requires surgery.
