Andy Lee v Billy J Saunders
Re: Andy Lee v Billy J Saunders
I think I may be alone on this but I don't get how highly Lee is rated by people. Yes he can bang but he's been bounced off the canvas and/or outboxed by every top rated fighter he has faced and really if he didn't have a big punch he'd have a pretty significant number in the loss column. Cotto and Golovkin would both make short work of him for my money. Not sure Saunders will stop him but I'd lean towards a Saunders points win.

Lee has hit the canvas in 2 fights,Jackson and Quillin, has boxed at a level way above bjs,if Lee can drop Quillin and Jackson and stop Korobov we will def.be seeing bjs hitting the floor.GPTM1403 wrote:I think I may be alone on this but I don't get how highly Lee is rated by people. it wouldn't surprise me but if I was in Saunders camp I'd be looking at Lee's fights and saying if you stick to a plan and box this guy can be outboxed so long as you can avoid that big hit. I know that's a lot of ifs but you'd fancy your chances against Lee more than any other "top" middledweight at moment. Depends on Saunders' chin.dutchie wrote:Lee has hit the canvas in 2 fights,Jackson and Quillin, has boxed at a level way above bjs,if Lee can drop Quillin and Jackson and stop Korobov we will def.be seeing bjs hitting the floor.GPTM1403 wrote:I think I may be alone on this but I don't get how highly Lee is rated by people. Re: Andy Lee v Billy J Saunders
Lee actually seems to have the most issues with people who pressure and out-muscle him (Quillin, Jackson, Chavez, McEwan, Vera, that Algerian guy whose name I don't want to try to spell). Even in the Korobov fight when he was losing rounds I didn't really think he was getting out-boxed as much as he was giving away points by moving backward too much and letting Korobov get off with just enough to eek out close rounds.
I think there's a good chance that BJS will move a lot and try to outbox Lee, but that approach may enable Lee to get comfortable by avoiding the situations which have generally been the toughest for him.

Really good analysis that. Not really considered it before, might be less of a chess match than we expected. Still not sure who winscrusader wrote:Lee actually seems to have the most issues with people who pressure and out-muscle him (Quillin, Jackson, Chavez, McEwan, Vera, that Algerian guy whose name I don't want to try to spell). Saunders made it very close v the untested Eubank Jnr; Lee has taken his lumps and competed at a higher level and he'll have similar boxing expertise to Saunders who is making a pretty big step up in class, though Lee has looked a bit clumsy etc he has been boxing men at a higher level. boxing and timing Saunders won't be as difficult as Korborov and Billy Joe does not hit as hard as Quillan or Jackson - Lee can move forward without much fear.
