The last one was poorly attended, but turned out well. Me, Forcefraser, his mate, Shirow and Ian McNeily ended up on the drink with Mickey Helliet, Steve Wood and Carl Greaves. Dave Coldwell and Buncey made cameos as well.

Ahh good stuff. I've met McNeilly many times, top lad.

Mickey Helliet I've met a fair few times as well, but not for quite some time.

They were all good company. I had mutual friends with Mickey, funnily enough, seen as I live 200 miles from him. Hamburg was alive that night, Haye turned so many people off him from not trying you wouldn't believe.

It probably will be. I'm not panicking, it's a 55,000 seater stadium, it won't sell out.

What's generally the cheapest way to get there, easy jet? I'm debating it but still paying for May 2nd.

Im going to the fight with a few mates. Cant wait, we went to the Klit vs Haye fight never was. Had a right laugh in Dusseldorf. Some awesome bars there and should be a far few Brits going.

As the London representative, I will be forced to start taking smack, and sporting a John cooper-Clarke style wig.[/quote]

Sublime. I trust one of you will be a pewter tankard adorned table tennis talent?

If the same Irish pub, that was underneath our hotel, we left the place for the weigh in and the fight itself and that was pretty much it I think!

I got a double room near town centre for 2 nights for 100 quid, twin beds or double. See earlier in the thread, hotel name is there.

I had an email from Hennessy sports today saying that the press conference for the fight is on Tuesday 21st July so for those of you that are going I assume tickets will be on sale from next Tuesday.

Flights are about 100-150 depending on times.

I reckon you will get a decent ticket for 75-100 quid.

So all in, you're looking at 300 quid plus spending money, so for me, that's about 1500 quid. :TU:

Myself and 2 other have managed to fly to Eindhoven, rent a car and get hotels for 4 nights for £ 165 in total. We fly out on the Wednesday and back on the sunday. Eindhoven is about an hour and a half drive away but the flights were cheap at £51 return.

Will there be a boxrec meet? That would be pretty cool. :TU:

I think I will be there for this.

Like Mickey and a few others I was in Hamburg for the Haye fight and it was not a great night, in fact it was a waste of a weekend if I'm honest.

Despite me thinking Fury is on to a loser, he will almost certainly give it everything something that Haye did not...at all.

Would be great to see fellow boxrecers out there

Warming up for Düsseldorf with a weekend lash in Hamburg.

Love the Reeperbahn, it's utter choas. I'll be up to my nuts in east European guts by sunrise.

Got to give it to the Germans, they sure know how to put on a good spread.

Roll on the Dorf. G'wan big Tyson :box:

There's a load of cheap flights from the UK to Dusseldorf or even Cologne. (Even Dortmund and Dusseldorf Weeze are within an hour of the venue)
Cologne has a train station below the airport and it's only about 30 mins to Dusseldorf city from there.
If the hotels bump the prices up you could stay in Oberhausen, Duisburg, Mulheim an Der Ruhr.... All for about €60 a night and easily within walking distance to the train stations .
The transport network is spot on, if you need to look at train times google De Bahn.(click English language version) and it will tell u the times, prices, stops, changes, platforms etc on there.
Dusseldorf old town or Allstadt is amazing....every weekend there's about 10000 ppl there in an area of about 3 square miles and the atmosphere is superb. Never any trouble and loads of bars and restaurants.
You can even go to the bar where Oz is glassed in Auf Wiedersien - it hasn't changed a bit.
I have worked in Mulheim since 2010 and despite the common misconception, most of the Germans like the Brits and are very similar to us in there habits (ie getting pissed on a weekend and loving sport)

im flying to dusseldorf returning from cologne which is £100 cheaper and only 40mins away from dusseldorf
actually decised to leave on monday and spend sunday in cologne, as money saved can go on hotel.

flying to dusseldorf friday 7am to get to see weigh in (from manc)

its cost more from manc, but cant be arsed with indirect flights or going from lomdon (which is cheaper)

flights cost £340 in total (me and mrs)
5 star intercontinental hotel at £300 for 3 nights

and fight tickets around £1200

so £2k in total with other costs etc like taxis, food etc

I've always found Germans to be great fun, and as you say, very similar to the Brits - though with a less well developed sense of humour.
