That's a good question.
Who's he called out and what has their response been ?

GGG needs someone significant on his resume.
What f4cking difference does the resume make ? Either the fight is exciting enough to pay for or not. You may say that GGG vs Lemieux is too boring for you, but basing your decision on resumes ... ???
My thoughts exactly
If you put Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 and GGG vs Lemieux on the same night and I can only watch one, CV's won't figure in my thinking for a fornicating second, I'm watching the war!

This fight is a garbage PPV on the same level as Hopkins/Dawson or something. Is Lemieux a decent GGG opponent? I suppose, given the situation in the sport. Is it deserving of being the only solid world class fight on a $60 PPV? If you think spending $60 to watch a guy who lost to Joachim Alcine get blown out inside of 5 is worth it, you have more money than sense. HBO and Loeffler deserve to take a chunk of your income for a less competitive fight than the average prospect showcase on Unimas.

The two most dangerous bona fide MW fighters on that list [unlike very dangerous very retired SMW Froch] are Lemiuex and Lee and both said they want to fight Golovkin to be fair.
In fact wasn't Lee scheduled to fight Golovkin and GGG pulled out for family reasons and it was never rescheduled?
Subsequently, Lee has won the World Title and defended it vs Quillen and now vs Saunders.
If Lee wins vs Saunders as I expect him to, then GGG has 2 x unification fights vs massive punchers available to him.
With Golovkin's total disregard to defence these fights have a real element of danger to them too and would unify the division.
Golovkin and his team should focus on these rather than jumping straight into the deep end at SMW vs Ward ... a fight I would give Golovkin almost 0% chance of winning.

why are you on a boxing board if you never watch the sport?
after every fight they ask the top fighters who they want to fight.
GGG always calls out the other "champions" and says he only wants
them, and then when cotto and the others are asked after their fights
if they will fight cotto they say no. cotto explicitly said he wasn't going
to fight GGG when asked after his last fight, even though GGG is his
mandatory WBC defense and cotto was given special permission to have
that geale fight a full year after beating martinez. cotto isn't fighting
anyone for that title without GGG's consent, and GGG is not signing to fight
lemieux until both cotto and canelo pay him to step aside and sign contracts
for the winner to face him.

GGG is the mandatory challenger for the WBC, so if cotto and canelo pay GGG to step
aside and agree that the winner's first defense will be against GGG in may, that would
leave enough time for GGG-lemieux in october, then GGG-lee in jan or feb (assuming lee
gets past saunders in sept), then finally the cotto-canelo winner in may to wrap up all
the titles and set up a bottleneck in the division. there wouldn't be any other big fights
at middleweight that didn't involve GGG, and basically anyone he fights becomes a big
event, be it quillin or eubank or whoever. maybe at that point he would draw top opponents
from 154 and 168 to middleweight like andrade, lara, ward, sturm, abraham, degale, groves, etc.

he's correct, the two are very destructive boxers - it'll be a very good clash and I'm glad the bout is on.

Geale chose to stay down.
Rubio likewise.
Monroe.
Stevens stopped trying to win and became a punching bag.
Etc...

To be fair both Lee and Lemoeux were not planning to fight Golockin next. After Saunders Lee wants a rematch with Quillin. Lemieux may be changing his mind

Is it a sad reflection on the sport today, that 1 unified undisputed champion in a division can somehow be cast as a negative thing.
If it is, then I want every division to have a "bottleneck"

I don't think sucracristo meant that in a negative way. It seems to me like he means that if GGG holds all the titles it would be harder for people to swerve him, since they won't be able to grab other titles and act as if they're just as much or more of a champion than he is.
I usually don't care much about titles, but when there is an opportunity for someone to hold all of them I typically encourage it. For example, when Kovalev was the WBC mandatory and it seemed like the Stevenson fight was possible I was strongly for Kovalev first making an IBF mandatory against a relatively soft opponent rather than dumping the belt and immediately fighting AS. That's because if the winner grabbed all the belts we wouldn't have someone like Beterbiev capturing the vacant IBF strap then being billed a world champ without him fighting one of the top two--he would have to go through Stevenson or Kovalev for that and it would be a top match-up.

Done deal: GGG-Lemieux 160 unification fight. Oct. 17 on HBO PPV from Madison Square Garden. Bombs away! #boxing
Not sure how well it will do on PPV though.

GGG should be a sizable favorite, but I'm interested in how things turn out if he's as easy to hit as he was in his last two fights

Awesome!! Two of my favorite middleweights about to rock and roll.
GGG should rightfully be a big favorite, but Lemieux has MAD power in his hands.

As fans we want to see good, competitive, and exciting matches. Number of ppv buys means nothing to me. This is the first PPV I'll buy this year.
