Fury gets a few hundred k and is contracted to a rematch
Re: Fury gets a few hundred k and is contracted to a rematch
I estimate he's being paid in the region of 2.5 million euro and after everything going out he'll take home somewhere between 650 and 750 thousand GBP.

I wasn't saying that you didn't. Is he taking home more than £1m after it all then?mickey1975 wrote:I know how it works. He's still on more than that.freddydoesdallas wrote:After tax, deductions etc? Yes, unless he is paying off half his family for services leading up to the fight, he should be taking home more than that.
What was the overall deal offered?

To be frank, I've not a clue what his family do - perhaps they are from a long line of Gypsy gastroenterologists.

More comments about how much someone could earn from a fight than the fight itself.

They've dealt a fair bit in property over the years, commercial vehicles also, I think they may also have interests in a couple of trailer parks. Peter has infamously also acquired wealth by other means but has been subject to significant proceeds of crime confiscation orders that have at the very least taxed him heavily on that.

As long as Tyson is happy with his lot, then that's all that matters.
I'm assuming they must have had their head's turned if they agreed a deal at the 11th hour to go to Germany and sign a rematch clause.

Yes, you would think so. He's not a mug, nor are his family.G0mez wrote:As long as Tyson is happy with his lot, then that's all that matters.

If we are on the edge of nuclear war and we have to send one man to negotiate peace and a good deal for the UK.
Please don't send Mick Hennessy.

This. All his mandatories do is get into a mandatory position and then sit on it. Nobody goes out and wipes the floor with the other pretenders, they all seem to skirt around each other waiting for the shot ( bar Povetkin and probably Haye before him )freddydoesdallas wrote:It's still a career high paycheck for him. He's had his fingers burnt by haye twice and probably just wanted a secure fight.
Wlad can do what he wants these days and he has more than earned that right through beating everyone out there. The contenders aren't braking his door down either by eliminating each other. They're all happy to wait for their big payday
Furys run has been uninspiring to say the least.
Wlads bigger than the belts. Nobody out there comes close

I doubt he's going to seriously tell anyone what he's earning, definitely not in his interest is it...

Wasn't Johny Nelson at the presser in Dussledorff?
If so then Sky must be looking to gain the rights and make it PPV, if so that would no doubt increase Fury's wedge.
Might even be the reason they didn't want Warren to win the purse bids.

Yes, but footballers earnings are in the public domain, boxing is quite secretive in that respect.palooka wrote:freddydoesdallas wrote:I know you'd never get it in other sports, football for examplewizwiz wrote:More comments about how much someone could earn from a fight than the fight itself.

50% will go in tax, unless he's got a creative accountant.
10% for Peter might take less.
Mick Hennessy will be on 10% and maybe some of the TV revenue.
Wages for other staff, including the other trainers, cutsman, conditioner/dietician.
Insurance, flights, hotels, cars, and clothes for him and his whole entourage.
Sanctioning fees, full training camp expense.
Anything else?

Could Wlad had defend only the title Fury was mandatory for and not the others?JimJim2009 wrote: When you are the mandatory you don't have to, and really shouldn't, agree to a rematch clause.

Do the sanctioning body get a cut from the entire purse, or just the champions share, I thought owner the belt's owner paid a cut?keithmoonhangover wrote:50% will go in tax, unless he's got a creative accountant.

There is no 50 tax rate any more is there? Or is that just PAYE, I thought the top rate if you are self employed was 40%?

I think the golden rule here, James, is not to address a post on a boxing forum, on the matter or finances and tax, as though the poster has the first fvcking clue about it.

Unless you know the *exact* setup- is it a ltd company, how many members of the family are employees/shareholders, etc etc etc, there is no way you can predict what the overall tax liability will be. And even if 50% applies, it only applies above a certain threshold, so the overall rate of tax on the whole amount earned is *never* 50%.
Apart from that you can take keiths post as gospel.

I know a fair bit about tax. My brother-in-law pays 50% tax. Fury might put it though a company, but will then have to submit accounts and pay that. Unless he joins a tax avoidance scheme, but some of those people are having to pay back the tax retrospectively.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Do the sanctioning body get a cut from the entire purse, or just the champions share, I thought owner the belt's owner paid a cut?keithmoonhangover wrote:50% will go in tax, unless he's got a creative accountant.

I'm under the impression the challenger has to pay smaller sanctioning fees, but I could be wrong.
Re: Fury gets a few hundred k and is contracted to a rematch
The top rate of tax is 45% and that only applies over £150k a year, how is he managing to pay 50% tax?keithmoonhangover wrote:I know a fair bit about tax. My brother-in-law pays 50% tax.
