They went at each other from the outset hard. Glad he got the win. Makes it a waste of time otherwise.

HE HAS.

They have just over-ruled the result to a Technical Draw by the way.

He's winning but given the hype I've seen I expected more. And remember that Plotnykov's record is quite padded (who are the best 3 opponents he's beaten?) and it wasn't that long ago that he lost to a 12-4 opponent.

Agree, I reckon Horns gonna struggle stepping up on this performance.

He's only had 10 pro fights. You were never going to see Pernell Whittaker tonight. Just enjoy the fight.

Horn cut. Was it a punch? Was it head?

It's a boxing forum...I can watch the fight and comment on it here too.

Feel free to. But it sounds like you were expecting a 10 fight pro to put on a Sweet Pea Whittaker type show. Enjoy the fight.

Not at all expecting that and I find it odd that you'd think that based on my posts.

To the cards they go. Horn has to get it. Clearly outboxed Plotnykov.

Great to see Horn make it 11-0. Hope that eye heals well.

That looked a real bad cut, Horn got the win but not overly impressed. He'll probably be out for the rest of the year now. He's a real work in progress and I wish him all the best.

Yeah what a strange one when the doctor started treating the cut and then let the fight continue, bizarre.

Parker should win this handily but he's one of those entertaining fighters I look forward to watching even against over-matched opposition....fun style.

I agree with Redback Rasta in what he says about Jeff Horn. The guy is only having his twelfth fight as a professional and Viktor Plotnykov is much better then his previous opponents (Richmond Djarbeng, Robson Assis etc). I saw Plotnykov's last fight in Northern Ireland when he came over and beat former Commonwealth champion Denton Vassell in a fairly one sided fight. So the fact Horn won more or less every round against Plotnykov is a good performance.

I think it was hard for Horn to look any more impressive then he did when Plotnykov started to spoil and use his head when he knew the fight was going against him. If I'm going to be objective then I would say Horn should stop switch hitting because I don't think it does him any favours and possibly should have worked the body more of Plotnykov who looked tall and thin.

Another user of this forum said he thinks the cut will keep him out for the rest of the year. I hope not. Due to hand injuries Horn has been inactive too much for my liking and I hope he is on the Auckland show scheduled for 15 October, but it was a bad cut.

In my country another Olympian from London 2012 is in action today and is also having his twelfth fight as a professional. Luke Campbell takes on Tommy Coyle who in my mind is no better then Viktor Plotnykov and unlike Horn, Campbell is gold medallist and older so possibly should be judged more harshly then Horn.

Plotnykov has a heavily-padded record with a loss not too many fights ago against a non-descript 12-4-2 opponent. He did widely beat Vassell, who was coming off a grueling stoppage loss to Sam Egginton, but he has largely beaten dross and hence was ranked all the way down in the mid 70s by BoxRec despite the fancy win-loss ratio.

Now I think it was a good step-up fight for Horn and he clearly deserved the win, but very little he did in accomplishing this impressed me....there were few clean shots landed and he just seemed to walk forward and be able to move his hands fast enough to keep the advantage throughout the fight. Of course he is early in his career, has time to improve, and would hardly be the first to do so, but for someone who I have seen hyped so much he didn't live up to the billing in my opinion.
