Still remember the absolute ass-whipping Toney gave Holyfield, I never saw anyone else whip Evander like that. It was a total and utter domination. In hindsight very impressive.
What punches did he stop Holyfield with? It's hard to see. Was it a body shot?

It was more Holyfield getting shit beat out of him all night than a single punch.

This has Jerry Quarry written all over it. At some stage a promotor must say enough.
We can do without another punchdrunk bum story in our sport

It was an accumulation from what I recall, but I think it was a bodyshot which finally did for him.

It's a bit of a forgotten gem that fight, Toney put on an absolute clinic that night, and totally dismantled Holyfield in a way that I never saw anybody else achieve.

Thanks. I've watched the ending so many times -- it's hard to see what punch brought him to the canvas.

He's a convicted drugs cheat. Zero sympathy from me.
Taking performance enhancing drugs is cheating and I have no time for it. But I do feel sorry for boxers who end up brain damaged like James Toney.

I feel more sorry for the people who's brain he damaged while on PEDs.

Fair point too.

I strongly suspect that the use of PEDs is absolutely rife in top level boxing, as it is in most other sports.

I'm gonna agree. Before drug testing, I would imagine a lot of fighters took speed 20 mins before a fight.

With so much money at stake, it is almost inevitable that fighters will cheat, especially when they themselves know their rivals also are.
