That's not strictly true. Jim Bentley is a big boxing fan himself, and attends a lot of shows, and there's another guy called Ben Anderson who I've spoken to on several occasions who used to box as an amateur and knows a lot of the boxers on a personal level, who has some influence on the fight selection process.

The problem is that these people don't have the ultimate decision, and at the end of the day it will be bean counters who make the final decisions on purely financial decisions.

fair enough point...but the BBC have to satisfy across the population...and one email/communication received equates to approx. 10,000...that's why if an ad receives 500 complaints thats 5 million people complaining, hence they pull it...

there may well be some midsummers murders unless they put the boxing back on.

This is probably old hat and I apologise if this has already been discussed but as I understand the Mick Hennessy's show in September (EastmanVSendra) is being screened by the BBC.

Either the letters paid off or the mass panic was a false alarm.

What are the views on here?

I assume the BBC are contracted to screen the fight, given the fight was first made about two years ago (I kid you not).

I think its a bit early to see if people power is working, lets see what happen in April 2005. I expect a complete pull out, Amir Khan could be the savior though.

Good point Bennie. Yes I know Eastman was due to fight Sendra some time ago before the Spaniard pulled out injured.

Perhaps this applies to Dodson-Froch too???

However, Boxing news went on record saying BBC will not be showing any more Hennessy shows (about 1 or 2 months ago), so I am left wondering if Hennessy is still in with a shout.

Could it be that it was just Audley that has been axed by the BBC?

I agree BN has changed, but in my opinion it's better than ever.

However, since the Editor's page is now 2 pages I suppose they have to fish for more reports than before to fill them up. This may lead to some false rumours being printed.

The point of my Post though is to try and get to the bottom of the BBC's continued work with Hennessy Sports.

I've taken your advice Bennie. I'll post the reply here (if I get one!).

I got a reply from Hennessy Sports about BBC covering their shows after Eastman v Sendra/Froch v Hague and they simply said the have a "no comments policy" on speculation and to stay tuned to their website for further news.

Seems fair enough to me, but I'm still none the wiser.

As the BBC are showing Roy Jones' next fight too, I think boxing may be around for a while yet. 8)
