Not all people but a lot and for the most part a person becomes a journeyman when they are not scared to fight anyone, on any notice I know I am considered a journeyman for sure. As my record speaks but I always go to a fight and try to win I don't have the money to bring in top trainers or sparring. Just wanted to know the thoughts from everyone good or bad don't matter to me I take all comments I am not sensitive lol.
Excellent point. We don't call our town councilman a "bum" because he is not the governor. A backup quarterback or backup second baseman isn't a bum, he's the backup or utility man. Phrases like "bum" or "tomato can" go back many decades. I've been guilty myself of using the phrases on occasion. But like another poster said anyone who gets in the ring deserves tremendous respect. Of course, not everyone is going to be a Marciano or Ali, but a smart fan respects other attributes such as toughness, going the distance, absorbing a hard shot, ring generalship etc. Hell, it's difficult for most people to even keep their hands up for 3 minutes.
Being British we are quite supportive of our so called Journeyman.
A record shouldn't summarise a fighter.
Emmanuel Augustus is a prime example. I've seen Galen fight and he's a credit to his sport.
I'm sure Chambers is training just as hard as other fighters because he knows Galens commitment and heart is better than his record suggests.
Dai Davies is considered a journeymen in the Uk but given the right notice I consider him one of the best in the division domestically.

For example, we know the thread starter is going to lose to Eddie Chambers this month.
What makes boxing interesting for me is competitive fights (when I don't know for sure who is going to win). A journeyman vs. a journeyman is more interesting than a world-class fighter vs. a journeyman.
Some journeyman seem to come to lose. That being said, I have the utmost respect for any journeyman who really comes to fight and pulls off an upset from time to time.
Viscous cycle. You hit the nail on the head. Fans want to see Chambers vs. Jennings or Charlie Martin. Then the fan gets frustrated and calls Galen a "bum." It should be noted that according to every source I am familiar with, Galen is a good smart guy with varied talents and achievements in and out of the ring. Not only that, he could kick my butt after being given a strong general anesthesia.
