I don't believe FW for a second about the Harris fight. He goes to Germany for a tougher fight against a guy who's not even remotely as popular as Ricky yet FW won't put up the cash for a Hatton/Harris fight when Harris is very willing? fornicate sake, the champion is calling out the challenger!! The fight can be made if they really want it, which they don't. Urkal's promoters showed faith in their man to deliver the belt, why won't Frank show the same faith in Ricky to deliver against Harris where Urkal failed? Its a fair question is it not? A loss to a very good fighter would not be the end of the world.
Cotto is being backed by his promoter, Brodie was backed, Urkal was backed and Magee was backed. Thats just a few, why won't Frank back his man? fornicate that Spadafora fight, its meaningless. Theirs absolutely nothing to gain from it. So what if he KO's him in 30 seconds. He's a featherfisted lightweight. Where's the threat? Ricky wins and not and single question will have been answered about how good he is.
Isn't this the same thing we have been hearing for the past 2 years?
I think that Urkals managment had more faith in Urkal because he is a better fighter than Hatton. Warren has no faith in Hatton and knows that the best 140 pounders will give him a hiding.
I think that a fight with Spadafora is even to much for Warren because it is very likley that he would outbox Hatton to an easy MD.

Rickys gonna walk through Spadafora, the much smaller lighter hitting pressure fighter Leonard Dorin gave Spadafora hell and I thought (and everyone else) he won their fight.

like i said before spaddy didn't box dorin he tried to go blow for blow with him to show the world he had knockout power(which he doesn't) and heart he showed he had the heart. Paul admitted he tried to fight dorin not box him. I think spaddy uses his boring style and slickness to win in a decision over hatton. So the quote spaddy lost to dorin and hattons a stronger dorin ain't working no more.

The fans want Harris. This is Franks chance to deliver a big fight for Hatton. There aint much point saying he can fight Harris after Spad when the fight is right to be made now.

Ricky usually dominates from start to finish, I don't see how Spadafora will keep Ricky off him. The point with this fight is Spadafora is a lightweight, and a guy thats never really beaten anyone of note himself. Ricky wins and then what? This is a fight that leads to no-where.
Now Frank says after Spadafora then probably Harris. But by then Cotto will almost certainly be scheduled to fight Harris for his WBA title. Thats the fight Cotto's people want and they will get it. Ricky then aint fighting Cotto if he wins that belt, their are probably a million reasons why the Cotto fight won't be made (£££ excuses). The chance to fight Harris for WBA title will be gone and Ricky will be back to square one again. Cotto will almost certainly fight Harris for that title if/when he beats Pinto next.

think you are about right Lhook.
Spadafora fight doesnt mean very much, they should break the bank to make the Harris fight happen. I mean it would sort out whether hatton is good enough and earn him a real belt therefore a gateway to the megafights.
Its a no brainer as far as I can see.

The chain of events that will unfold.....
(1) Hatton vs Harris gets made
(2) The MEN gets sold out.
(3) 4 days before the fight Harris gets "injured"
(4) No refund on the (over-priced) tickets is offered. They "reserve the right to alter the card at short notice".
(5) Igor Tabigdick from Ukraine (Frank - "a tough opponent for Ricky!") thankfully agrees to step in at the last moment.
(6) Ricky bombs him out in 4 one-sided rounds.
(7) Ricky & Frank have another great little payday thanks to the fans daft enough to buy tickets to a Spots Wetwork event.
The end.......

I have been to Hatton fights before, but now have zero confidence that the announced fighter is the one who will actually be in the ring. I will not even consider going to a FW promo until he has restored some faith by putting up live opponents and producing them on the night

Spot on Slapsie, same here and its friggin long way from London, though I have to say its a great night out, shame really overall but similarly until my faith is restored I wont be spending a shed load of money getting up there anfd hotels and stuff, may as well save another couple of hundred notes and go to vegas for a big one. Its not that disperate in monetry terms when you tot it all up.

There is nothing to touch a big fight in Vegas, although my last experience was not a happy one ( Naz Vs Barrera
) but at least it was a live one, amazing atmosphere and, well, I did get to stay at Bellagio's
The cost is not that different.
With trains to Manchester, a night's stay in a place that is not Ma Magraw's Flop House and a couple of meals, plus tickets, you are easily looking at £500 +. You can get deals to Vegas or Atlantic City for that. Even cheaper if you go to MSG in NYC

Two nights in the MGM grand cost me the miserly sum of 200 dollars, (140 quid), my flight was 270 quid, and I combined it with trips to LA and San Francisco.
All in all my trip cost me about 1000 quid, and I got 2 weeks in the sunshine and a big vegas fight to boot. Admittedly I wasn't paying for the fight tickets which took some money off, but the fight tickets were between 20-100 quid or so.
Weekend in Manchester at 500 quid, or two weeks in the sun for 1000, hmm, I wonder which one to go for?
I know which I would rather do.

You're overlooking the amount of drink that J consumes during a weekend. From what i've heard £500 is on the low side for him.

tickets 150 , travel 50 Quid, hotel 80 quid per (2)night, thats 360 before you even go anywhere.
If you fancy staying in a travel lodge mate that up to you, especially when its was the cup semi final at Old trafford that weekend involving millwall.

Nah not of any particular one no but who would have wanted to stay in a travelodge with an open bar all night with a thousand of em booked at 2 am, shedded and looking for a ruck?
Its not a case of being scared though a thousand pissed Millwall fans would do it. Its more a case of not really wanting to put myself in that situation.
Instead we stated in a very nice hotel that had a club in it, full of young fillies. Not that I was in a state to talk to any of them but nice eye candy.
Top stuff.
