Reading between the lines it sounds like things were said post fight thats tarnished their relationship, possibly GG's wife was mouthing off a bit.

Yes. My guess would be that GG has said some stuff to the wife about how he is training himself or how he doesn't need Paddy. The wife has mouthed something along these lines, something offensive to Paddy anyway, which has made Paddy decide that ties must be severed and they can't go on under those circumstances. All speculation I must say but reading between the lines this seems to be somewhat close to what occurred.

When the person in question makes such a big deal about twitter and followers etc, then it does give a bit of an insight into his thinking. Groves loved to dish it out on twitter and slag and brag. He gets beat again and goes into hiding.

If froch or another fighter who had twitter but didn't use it in such a way had quit i would agree with you but for groves, it was his major thing

Groves' punch resistance has gone. Froch has finished him. Changing trainers won't make a difference.

His punch resistance was never that great, Anderson had him badly hurt earlier on in his career.

You don't work for Ian Duncan Smith, do you, Toby?
Ironically on that one, in a total reverse I wrote an opinion piece on IDS last week and his shocking treatment of the disabled and anyone with additional needs, that he has branded them to be not normal and how many have died since he started forcing them back to work unnecessarily.

I really feel sorry for Groves. To be demolished in such a grudge match in front of millions would be hard to take no matter how much money he got. And by the way, Froch does himself no credit continuing to gloat about it.
Maybe Groves is not a nice person, I don't know, but does he really need to fight on, if he was a relative of mine, I'd be making sure his money's invested wisely and giving the old boxing malarkey a body swerve.
Even if he came back and beat DeGale and made a couple of defences what would it prove. Sadly for him he'll always be remembered for the Froch knockout.

You know what a sorry state of affairs things are in when IDS is being mentioned on a thread about George Groves.

The more it's mentioned the better!

Where's Richard 'The Secret' Williams? Surely he'd take IDS in a scrap?

Right now George, before we begin working together, there's something I have to ask you.

"Do you remember when I knocked you out at Wembley in front of 80,000 people?"

I'd say it's a little early to write George off completely.

He is still young enough to rebuild, but he probably needs to work his way back slowly. Take some time off, then have some keep busy fights to rebuild his confidence. If it isn't there any more, then perhaps it's time to quit, but let's be clear he's only lost to two people, one of them one of the best 168 lbers of the last 20 years. He might be shot mentally, but I think that's overstating it, he was doing pretty well against Jack, but he wouldn't, or more worryingly couldn't keep his foot on the gas to boss the fight.

Time will tell, but it's far too early to retire, unless he's lost his desire.

With regard to Froch gloating, I have to say I find it highly amusing.

I agree. To be knocked out by Carl Froch in front of 80,000 people at Wembley can be damaging.

He has earned it. I feel sorry for George too but if things had gone to plan with his Froch 'mind games' he would have turned the whole country against Froch, made sure all the supposed holes in Froch's career were well picked and then knocked him out and ended his career. That's not exactly nice, is it? He might have said it wasn't personal but he went out of the way to make Froch feel and look stupid, got him booed when he used to being cheered, and so I can forgive Froch for twisting the knife a bit. I haven't heard that much from Froch after this fight so maybe he's going easy on Groves for now. But it would be like taking out the kid who picked on you at school. People don't forget being humiliated easily. Groves will know all about that at the moment.

He should look at his family and his bank balance and take some time out.

It may be a struggle whoever it is. You would think Booth is the boss in the gym and I think that is one of the reason Groves left him. In Gavin Fitzpatrick, he was looking for a yes man, but the former pro has had enough of that.
The top trainers won't want him unless he submits to their will in the gym.

Can't see Gallagher taking him on given he's got a super middleweight on the verge potentially of a world title tilt if he wins in November

Anybody see George looking towards the Mcguigans?

I know Shane has Frampton as his only world level/proven star, but i think the camp there and the mentallity are perhaps the closest he will get t the Hayemaker set up.

big risk for sure but it is one worth considering.

I'm not sure they would be particularly keen on taking him on. Frampton is on the verge of something big and by the sounds of it, Groves would be a big distraction
