Sams have been evenly matched 50-50 fights at domestic level. Smith dropped the english title without defending to go down the international route. Who has had the toughest pro career and who's progressed the furthest in the last 12 months.......

That had the hand of Hearn all over it, no way were they letting there boy have a defeat on his record that early.

I had Hughes winning by about 4/5 rounds. He blatantly won yet the sky commentary team thought Ward won??????

That tends to be how I look at it too. Smith, whilst scoring some lovely KO's, has been facing naturally smaller men (heck Tubeiron was essentially a Super Bantamweight) whilst Eggington has been facing solid domestic guys in even match ups.

I take all that on board and agree to some extent and if you look at the boxers who have won the award previously have had unbeaten records and very solid amateur credentials, not saying its right.
