I have to say that i'm in agreement with the pesky Brits this time. This announcement is bush league by Wlad. I can see if it's a cut in sparring or a hand issue but a calf? Come on. Plus the timing of the announcement is puzzling to me as well. The fight isn't for weeks. What kind of calf injury are we talking about here? That could be fine by Monday for goodness sake.

That fight was well over a decade ago, Corrie Sanders lost his next fight against Klitschko and currently doesn't even live any more.

That fight was well over a decade ago, Corrie Sanders lost his next fight against Klitschko and currently doesn't even live any more.

Sanders lost the folowing fight agianst Vitali not Wladmir. Wladimir lost way KO the fights against Puritty and Brewster, Puritty of course wasn't a puncher. He went down three times (if i rember well) in the first match with Peter. Of course has improved a lot since those fights (especially the defensive part), but you can't take a KD suffered by Fury to prove his weakness...

Klitschko is Klitschko, and the KO against Puritty and Brewster weren't real KO's, just look up the fights, Wladimir was winning big time and ran out of energy.
Not even breath, no, just energy, like marathonrunners some times do, not a real KO.
For me Corrie Sanders was his only real and deserved loss.

Same story for Vitali, the only two loses he ever had weren't real loses, he was massively ahead in points in both matches, but had a shoulder injury and he had a cut near his eye.
I admit the stoppage from the ref because of the cut near his eye was fair, but it wasn't like Vitali really was KO, I still think he could have won the fight, he could have won a game of chess right after the match.

I'm from the Netherlands, and I've never been in any country with English as a main language either ;).

Yeah, that's called a TKO, or if you go down and don't get up for ten, a KO. You don't get a pass because you ran out of gas, it doesn't somehow "not count" as a stoppage, it's a stoppage.

I actually like Wlad and think he gets way more flak than he deserves, but let's not get ridiculous here. His losses are losses.

Truth be told, neither one of them has a rock solid chin. Wlad has adapted well to that fact though. As for Fury, who knows? Cunningham knocked him down and as above with Wlad, that doesn't magically change now because it's later.

I disagree. Lewis deliberately cut Vitali by rubbing the lace of his glove on his face and then he spent the rest of the fight deliberately opening that cut up by rubbing his head and glove into it. The referee should have disqualified him but the referee was blind. Vitali had never even been cut either before nor after in his entire boxing and kickboxing career. I once systematically played back that fight pausing the video with each incident and noting down the exact time each and every time that Lewis rubbed his head or glove lacing into the cut..

The first Wladimir-Brewster fight was very suspicious, the missing water bottle, the disappeared hospital records, especially the blood tests. That fight was very suspicious, and the totally one sided rematch proved it.

I agree that Wlad's only legit loss was to the late Corrie Sanders. Sanders had the capability to be the best of them all, and Wlad had the misfortune to run into him the one and only time in his life that he trained to the max for a fight. I couldn't believe how fat and out of shape his was for the follow up with Vitali, the biggest fight of his career, and still he was missing a prime and superb Vitali by inches with bombs.

Let's throw a parade for the superb Klitschko brothers, who could clearly only ever lose under shady circumstances or when they let their opponents win.

I have to rewatch the Vitali - Sanders fight because it has been a long time. Hopefully it is on Youtube. Sanders had amazing athletic ability. I think he was a champion sprinter before boxing. He hated to train though, and he rarely bothered. The Wlad fight was the exception. He really got into that one and he was training with all sorts of innovative methods. I still don't know what he was thinking when he showed up for the Vitali fight like he did, but when I saw training pictures of him always wearing a big floppy sweat shirt I figured he wasn't in shape. For his very last fight I doubt if he did a single situp or anything to prepare for it, because as soon as he got hit in the stomach he fell down.

He was shot, murdered. Dangerous business being a top heavy it seems, and not always in the ring - Abdusalamov, Boytsov, Charr...Teofilo Stevenson was also shot to death. Those just come to mind.

The Klitchko Brewster rematch was a joke, many years later and Lamon was BLIND should have never been allowed to step in the ring lol. Proves absolutely nothing. How sad to think it does.

Man that was sweet though, Lamon took everything the overrated Klitchko had, round after round, then turned it around on him and the guy barely took a few shots before folding. 20 seconds of getting hit back then folded. That's weak sauce no matter how you Vladdy fans wanna spin it. Ass----->whupped.

Sanders actually scored a knockdown in that fight but the ref called it a slip. Vitali hung on for dear life for about thirty seconds after he got up, however, which is always a good indication of whether or not something hurt you!

No, it wasn't "many years later", it was only three years later, and no, Brewster wasn't "BLIND". In fact Brewster went on to fight four more times after that, his final fight being a KO loss to Helenius.
