I like him too, gives a decent sense of occasion but not over the top. He was Maloneys MC until he quit boxing and he does the Frampton shows. Thought he was now doing Matchroom coz he was on all over summer but mcdonald was there for the Joshua fight

I did the same i was watching it with some mates and we were just crying with laughter and rewinding it time after time, think they were in the second round before we all composed ourselves enough to watch the fight, remember after it as well just sitting back with a beer and playing it again and again, it was one of the craziest things I have ever seen in an introduction, still smiling about it now just thinking of it.

Was reading a thread on another forum yesterday about Futy having ducking form, not important but I ended up watching his weigh in v Ustinov, near pissed myself when Burdis began welcoming them to the ring rather than scales & just being awful throughout.

He did it in Doncaster, too. When McDonnell won the title the first time round. He's done a Sky show, a load of bn undercards, fishing on Sky, Darts and does Rugby League for the Wakefield Wildcats. Oh, and he's got a raidio show as well now.. He posts on here very occasionally, announcerphil.

Apparently he was asking for too much money but he was/is the best boxing MC in the UK by a country mile.

He had the look and the voice for the big shows, Burdis is very poor in comparison and McDonald ruins it with the growling

I`m sure its not as simple as that though,we all have dreams to follow but if we were all as bad as him then repeated oppertunities and subsequent failures wouldn`t be an option surely.

can you back that up? If you can't it's at best "not blatant" and at worst libelous - not that I suspect it would cause that many waves. I can't honestly comment because I've always played it quite safe work-wise. To me, this is the sort of thing that you could only get in to on a p/t basis and try to evolve into the role. The fact that Burdis keeps getting work suggests that there isn't a queue of talent hammering the door down for a go at it.
I saw in in person once for Khan Barrera......no, he never did Khan Barrera, I think JLJ did that, but Burdis did the undercard. His little hand was going ten to the dozen and I felt he had nerves issue, but fair play to him because he gets on with it. I'm certainly not going to knock him until I stand in front of a few thousand and see how easy it is.
On a related note, I like the cockney chap that does the boxing ring rentals as well. I used to know his name off by heart but it's been a while now. Goodhall! Top class professional and grafter.

Prefer Burdis to both McDonald and Stephens personally.

Who was the MC used to work for FW, did the rings as well ? I always remember when there was a punch up at ringside and he was MC and nearly had a heart attack trying to stop it.

That's him, think his son was called Simon ? Then there was good old Mike Shinfield doing FW's shows on ITV on a Wednesday night a good few years ago, again both of them far more natural MC's than Mark Burdis

I think that's the key. Some guys are just natural with a mic in their hand, they're tone is confident and their voice is commanding which is perfect for being an MC.

I think what may have happened there is he's thought: "weight, record, from blah de blah blah...get the crowd up....don't need to write his name down" and he's gone and forgotten his name. I bet Buffer writes the names down of both fighters - just so that on the off chance he has a total mental blank, he doesn't look like a tit. I've done it myself sometimes with friends who I've not known long, or just not seen in a while and I'm talking to them thinking "f*ck, what's your bloody name!".........doesn't happen that often but I'll bet it's happened to us all at some point.
