I remember rewinding it a few times after watching it live. It was unbelievable at the time but highly humoroushandsofstone wrote:![]()

I did the same i was watching it with some mates and we were just crying with laughter and rewinding it time after time, think they were in the second round before we all composed ourselves enough to watch the fight, remember after it as well just sitting back with a beer and playing it again and again, it was one of the craziest things I have ever seen in an introduction, still smiling about it now just thinking of it.ShadrachSimmo wrote:I remember rewinding it a few times after watching it live. A guy I know did that. He kept a blog on it and has achieved his dream of announcing a world title bout!magwitch wrote:It's quite simple really - Mr Burdis decided he'd like to do something so he got of his arse and did it. I'm sure loads of other people could try and give him some competition, but that first step that he has taken over them is quite important really.

He did it in Doncaster, too. When McDonnell won the title the first time round. He's done a Sky show, a load of bn undercards, fishing on Sky, Darts and does Rugby League for the Wakefield Wildcats. Oh, and he's got a raidio show as well now.. He posts on here very occasionally, announcerphil.palooka wrote:mickey1975 wrote:A guy I know did that. He had the look and the voice for the big shows, Burdis is very poor in comparison and McDonald ruins it with the growlingblack panther wrote:Where's Michael Pass when you need him eh?
Apparently he was asking for too much money but he was/is the best boxing MC in the UK by a country mile.
I`m sure its not as simple as that though,we all have dreams to follow but if we were all as bad as him then repeated oppertunities and subsequent failures wouldn`t be an option surely.magwitch wrote:It's quite simple really - Mr Burdis decided he'd like to do something so he got of his arse and did it. can you back that up? If you can't it's at best "not blatant" and at worst libelous - not that I suspect it would cause that many waves. I can't honestly comment because I've always played it quite safe work-wise. To me, this is the sort of thing that you could only get in to on a p/t basis and try to evolve into the role. The fact that Burdis keeps getting work suggests that there isn't a queue of talent hammering the door down for a go at it.rpms wrote:I`m sure its not as simple as that though,we all have dreams to follow but if we were all as bad as him then repeated oppertunities and subsequent failures wouldn`t be an option surely.magwitch wrote:It's quite simple really - Mr Burdis decided he'd like to do something so he got of his arse and did it. Its pretty obviously blatant nepotism isn`t it,he`s really just not very good at it.

That's him, think his son was called Simon ? Then there was good old Mike Shinfield doing FW's shows on ITV on a Wednesday night a good few years ago, again both of them far more natural MC's than Mark Burdisorbtastic wrote:Mike Goodall.tony1234 wrote:Who was the MC used to work for FW, did the rings as well ? His son does MCing too.
I think that's the key. Some guys are just natural with a mic in their hand, they're tone is confident and their voice is commanding which is perfect for being an MC.tony1234 wrote:

I think what may have happened there is he's thought: "weight, record, from blah de blah blah...get the crowd up....don't need to write his name down" and he's gone and forgotten his name. I bet Buffer writes the names down of both fighters - just so that on the off chance he has a total mental blank, he doesn't look like a tit. I've done it myself sometimes with friends who I've not known long, or just not seen in a while and I'm talking to them thinking "f*ck, what's your bloody name!".........doesn't happen that often but I'll bet it's happened to us all at some point.
