Once again, I'm not a fan of Wilder and I think his opposition for a world champion is atrocious. I also think he should fight his mandatory challenger Povetkin in his very next fight. But I can't understand all the hype around Povetkin as if he is some unbeatable monster. I completely agree with Peter Fury on Povetkin. Here are his quotes from his interview to boxingnewsonline.net:

“I don’t think Povetkin will do any good with Wilder because he’s got to get to Wilder. He doesn’t do well against bigger fighters, he won’t be able to get past Wilder’s reach,” he noted.

“Povetkin’s got too many disadvantages. You saw what happened against Wladimir Klitschko.

Wilder is got good chance knocking out Povetkin in the later rounds; if you take look at his fights against Klischko and Huck . His legs were unstable and shaky. If Wilder has a good condition; his chance is good!

Everyone hypes Povetkin up a bit to much imo. Povetkins resume is impressive but most of the guys he has beaten are under 6'4 and not that big. Marco Huck beat him imo but got screwed over in Russia by the ref and judges. Povetkin looked ALL TIME AWFUL against Wlad, I know Wlad is dominant, but man 119-103 on all three cards? that's chris algeri- vs pacman bad. Wilder may still be a bit raw and may not have an iron chin but he has the best right hand in the divison atm and his workrate and stamina for a heavyweight is off the charts. AJ hasn't proved yet tha the can look good in the 11th round of a fight. Lets see him go past 6 before we proclaim AJ as the next Lennox

Wilder has looked pretty terrible everytime hes been v a higher class journyman, wide open a lot of the time, I can see povetkin landing early within the first 6 and KO'ing him, i just can't see how an unexperianced wide open fighter will beat an experienced smart boxer . Either way i'm looking forward to the fight any fight like this is great for the heavyweight division. Wilder is untested and I don't count stiverne(terrible in my opinion). I'm not sure why povetkin is getting such a bad wrap in this thread, his only defeat being Wlad who has destroyed anyone and that fight was a big joke 100's of clenches zero points off due to typical KLITSchko ref and to anyone saying he hasent fought anyone, check anyone else in the top 10 and see who they've been against.

I just find it funny that Wilders hype has gotten to a new level, hell just a few days ago I had a guy compare him to Larry Holmes, crazy that in his last two fights against subpar opp he has done the stinky leg all over the ring in being hurt bad against Molina and let a guy like Johan almost close his eye shut, quit falling for the hype, Wilder has more holes than swiss, Povetkin has a much better resume.

Wilder was rocked by a top -50 D level heavyweight in Eric Molina, so what do you thinks going to happen when Povetkin (who's on a KO streak) connects on his chin?

To be honest I think Mike Perez, who Povetkin KO'd in round 1 would beat Wilder.

Povetkin has had more than 300 amateur fights compared with Wilder who started boxing late and only had like 40 amateur fights. The amateur background will show up in this fight.

Wilder does have a height and reach advantage but that's it. In every other way Povetkin is better even in terms of power.

I agree . . notice Wilder never mentioned Povetkin's name in any of the post-fight press.

No, I don't think that Povetkin - Wilder will happen either. I think they've been nurturing and protecting their precious "world heavyweight champion" so that they can cash out on one big money fight vs. either Wladimir or Fury, the latter whom I am quite sure will lose to Wladimir, but it will probably be an exciting fight, and he's a showboat and a big box office draw. And yeah, I've also been saying that I believe the guy who Povetkin KO'd in round one in his last fight, Perez, would beat Wilder. Perez is solid and a league above Wilder's last two opponents, both of whom gave him plenty of trouble...and I don't suppose they are showing photos of Wilder's face after his last fight. So they'll want to bill Wilder's big cash out fight as "the fight of the century - the clash between world heavyweight champions - PPV tickets $200").

At least Molina and Dupaupas weren't recently knocked out. Dupaupas has never been stopped until he fought Wilder. A Perez fight would just add to the ridicule which might be your goal considering you don't fancy Wilder.
