The only people who expected Pulev to bulldoze Thompson were people who had never seen him fight like yourself. Pulev is a points fighter with semi decent pop in the later rounds. He dominated Thompson.
C'mon! He put 12 people to sleep at ringside! His own promoter demanded a refund on his ticket! It was over for ten minutes before anyone in the crowd noticed.....

Pulev vs top-10 HW Tony Thompson was much more interesting fight than 10-rounds boredom of your beloved Povetkin against a bum named Nicolai Firtha.
