Aj is the future face of boxing...

I really think next year Eddie won't be able to keep him back

Somebody needs to knock Wlad out before he retires, then you have something.
Without that you have third tier. The Klits couldn't beat Lewis and nobody could beat them.

I think we are all after a "competitive" age. That is what's been sadly lacking.

The current era would look a lot better if it was not for Klitschko. He is just so dominant that he makes
everyone else look pathetic.I don't think the top 5 contenders are as bad as they are painted out to be.
I just think Wlad is that damned good that he makes them look that way.

getting rid of klitschko weakens the division in terms of class and quality.
yes we'll get more exciting fights as boxers will have more chances to be chapion with multiple belts

sadly then we'll have the usually ducking, tv politics, promoter politics etc
you'll have a sauerland champ defendeding againt costa juniors and arias's of the world

I expect Anthony Joshua to take over the Klitschko era, and he will probably be just as dominant as Klitschko was, Anthony Joshua will only be just a bit more interesting to see since he does go for the KO.

of course he does, look at opposition
he'll be more carefull when he faces someone that punches back or once he gets ko'd
always happen a boxer become naturally more careful after those expereinces

That's bogus. Who is watching a fight like Povetkin-Chagaev, Jennings-Perez or Fury-Chisora and thinking "wow, what an awesome division, filled with skilled and well conditioned fighters!" These guys look mediocre before fighting Klitschko as well as during and after.

Big tough men with skills heart and desire are needed to create a significant era in heavyweight boxing, and lets be honest we are trying to be hopeful about a pretty mediocre bunch.

I'm not sure his power is insane. He hits hard but rarely has big one punch KOs, usually he hits opponents with several big shots before they go down and they usually get back up after the first knockdown to be then battered into a TKO.

He hits hard and is aggressive but I think wilder has more pure one punch power.

I disagree. . .look over that list in the opening post. When comparing these prospects to what is considered the Golden Era of Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Quarry and Shavers who mostly fought each other and considering that Wilder, Parker, Joshua, Tyson Fury, Hughie and Usyk are all in their 20's and add Ortiz, Browne, Martin, Glazkov, Teper, Helenius, Rivas as a quality competitve 2nd tier there can be a decade of great matches involving them against one another.

Agree, theres plenty about but the quality just doesn't seem enough to create standout fights, would be happy to be proved wrong tho

IMO the only guys who could come Close to wladimirs Peak Level are AJ and Usyk. Parker is very good too but I don't see him becoming a dominant champ. he could certainly win a belt though. he seems to be a Little bit of a tweener in his skills. he is big but not super big, an OK but not great Puncher and fast but not really Slick. that should be enough for a belt but maybe not for an Extended dominance.

even with usyk I'm not sure. he has the best pure boxing Talent out of AJ, parker and the furys but he has only fought at cruiser plus he is already 28 (2 years older than AJ and tyson and 4-5 years older than parker and hughie. that is not old of course but he would have to make the jump soon.

does he have the physical Tools at HW?

hughie fury is the youngest out of the current Young guns (Tyson, AJ, Parker) but he also seems to be nothing Special, doubt he becomes as good as tyson.

heres what it really is
wlad is going and new blood like AJ is coming
so people are trying to create a GOOD era for AJ to make sure he becomes an ATG
ppl r trying to create the concept that suddenly boxers like wach are very good tests, when they were classified as bums when wlad faces them
if there was no AJ, nobody will be calling it a golden era...just those fans who want to put him on a pedestal

You can say that about a lot of punchers. If you go back to watch Shavers KO fighters like Henry Clark and Norton or Foreman knocking out Norton or King Roman, it was often also an accumulation of punches.

Most KOs are like that even by big punchers but against lower level opponents big punchers usually have at least some big one punch KOs.

AJs opponents all took several big shots and got up after the first KD. I don't remember a KO like wlad did to Brock or chambers.

I'm not saying he doesn't hit hard but he is more overwhelming his opponents with sheer physical power than having a lights out punch. Not that is a bad thing but we have to wait how that transfers to better opponents.

chagev beat pianeta in 1 round, wlad in 5-6

of course AJ got 1 ko power when look at opposition who are journleymen and there to maek u look good
charles martin, wilder, AJ, parker,

even wlad had high ko ratio in his career until he stepped up

none of this means chit until

1. you become champ
2. dominate the division for 10 year
3. NEVER drop the belt for anyone, be it poor name/money (leapai) or strong name and high risk (fury, povetkin, pulev)
4. unify division

until someone does this after wlad, they arent great

Fury doesn't seem to know what he wants to do post Wlad. First he was going to retire if he lost. Now he is saying he'll retire if he wins "because he'd have nothing left to achieve."

BUT, Fury goes on to say "he would be open to a fight with Joshua should he decide against retirement".

Fury is starting to overthink things. Should be just concentrating on beating Wlad.

I find his banter entertaining. But he seems to be all over the shop at the moment. I guess some would argue is always is.
