I guess you can blame the mismatch making for those 2 duff fights.... but c'mon. Slow paced, boring. How about a face paced finish? What happened to the all-mexican style? The Tyson-esque 3 minute onslaughts?
That card wasn't worth the money. 2 overmatched main events that looked more like journey being fed to prospects on an undercard.
Boxing is not for you.
I suggest that you get a large aquarium, buy a boa or python, get some popcorn and watch your snake strike small rodents every few weeks.
It was a pleasure watching two p4p boxers humble high level competition so expertly.

This is exactly what is was. We were all hoping for a war but this was masterful stuff.

If you enjoyed those 2 non-fights last night, perhaps it's more apt you take up your own advice. You can watch the snake toy with a harmless defensless rodent and proclaim it a masterclass in hunting prey

Mayweather wins UD: "He couldn't even stop his opponent!!!"
Golovkin and Gonzalez stop opponents: "Those opponents couldn't even last!
You can please some of the people some of the time. Others, well they're just going to complain either way. Seriously, if you expected a grand violent epic tale for the annals of boxing history between Golovkin and David "almost good enough to beat Joachim Alcine" Lemiuex, I'd suggest you are exactly the person the PPV was aimed at.
And Roman Gonzalez was fighting Brian Viloria, one of the best fighters in the world around that weight in the past few years. Gonzalez is a great fighter, he isn't a wizard. What was he supposed to do, walk in and trade shots, giving Viloria his only chance? "Well forget the win, I've got to entertain some ponce who doesn't understand this is fvcking hard to do!!"

the IBF champion only had to roll over and he would have been winner by foul
but credit to him for taking the hard road and getting up the ref looked like he had money on GGG to win the fight in that round beside the refs performance GGG looked better than ever.......

Agree mate - the ref behaved very oddly throughout the bout. facial expressions, comments to Lemieux, standing extremely close to the fighters during exchanges and how he missed the punch when Lemieux had taken a knee is beyond me.
Thoroughly enjoyed the card, well worth the money. Viloria was competitive for as long as it lasted and as you said GGG never looked better against a very game opponent. Despite the loss Lemieux has a bright future. The other middleweight bout was a ripper. Seems some people are very hard to please (the author of the topic)

Vidondo was a disgrace and joins the long list of Argentinians with seemigly magical domestic fight statistics that then get badly found out. He is back to sports halls and hotels, he should try to get in shape too he was a mess

Golovkin came up against an opponent with serious power and showed great skill and power to make him look ordinary. Ricky's tough to please,Golovkin looking to unify the division he has to fight him not his fault he was far superior to the IBF champion(who at least had the cajones to step in the ring against him). I liked it anyway.

Maybe one day we'll get a PPV event with 4 good fights instead of a network like HBO using it a springboard for one of their blue chippers that they feel good about. Instead of softly matching up one of these fighters, they could spruce it up with some interesting matchups then we would finally feel like a PPV event was worth the money. I can't remember the last PPV Boxing event that I felt good about spending my money and time on.

Who would be matchups which are not "soft" for Gonzalez or Golovkin at their weights ? They are just in leagues of their own.

Boxing isn't all about two guys swinging trying to take each others heads off. If that's what floats your boat maybe boxing isn't really your thing. I like to watch quality not just action.
Quality only exists in well matched fights.
Quality fighters make sure they're never in well matched fights by being too bloody good.

Sorry, I was referring to the two opening bouts of PPV telecast. Believe me, I have no problem with either of the two main event fights. I just wish they didn't include throw away fights. You know the kind. The ones that are merely put in that spot to highlight a promising fighter against a chump just to make him look good. Imagine 4 nice fights instead of 2?

Honestly, GGG should have had a point deducted for that shot when Lemieux was down but as for rest of the ref's performance? I think he was right on. It was that kind of fight where someone can get forever maimed and I have to admit that I was worried about Lemieux those last two rounds. He was taking a lot of shots and someone really did need to save him from himself. Tremendous heart!!! I commend him for stepping up and trying to take GGG on and coming forward while taking that beating but this one could have ended badly had it not been for that Ref. I give him a lot of credit for making that call because it's never popular to end a fight like that with the boxer still throwing.
