Edit: I should add, as ill-matched as I believe they are I would happily pay to watch that great big weightdrainy lightmiddleweight-feeding fvcking coward repeatedly doing a bambi-legged lollop around the ring, because I think ggg would hurt him just about every time he landed and Quillins feet will get disorganised very quickly.
NOTE TO AL HAYMON: put GGG-Quillin on PPV, PLEASE.

He doesn't have the CV of Hagler or Hopkins but in a h2h I'd have it 50-50 with either of them.
Not sure I've seen quite enough of him yet to say that. He does look very good, but Lemiuex did look very limited - (I haven't seen much else of Lemeiux to be fair) - I'd like to see him in with a slick fighter who can punch - or a super slick fighter with excellent defence.
Hagler really was a monster, similar to GGG in some ways, in his relentlessness and boxing ability, but I'd say he fought with even more intensity, and hit harder also, certainly in the prime of his career.
I don't agree on Hagler's power. He could hit for sure but he was never really a one punch guy. Hagler had that huge reach and the iron jaw...but he was also good down the stretch, with an underrated defence and an all-time jab.
Marvin is the more seasoned in big fights. So he definitely has that. But on skill set, talent and athleticism there's not much in it. We just need Golovkin to prove it by beating up the best out there... He can start with Alvarez/Cotto then Quillin.
He wasn't a one punch guy, but he used to brutalise people, physically, he was much more of a specimen than GGG, it's easy to forget just how strong Marvin was.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing just how good GGG is, I'm pretty sure he is going to motor through Cotto or Alvarez, if those fights get made. If cotto does prevail, he will no way take the fight, Alvarez I suspect will. Quillin not seen anything of, so not sure how to guage that.
We may not really see him tested unless he moves up. He's 33, but I reckon as I said before he's probably got a few prime years left, and he's enough of a technician that past his prime, he would still be very hard to beat. He doesn't rely on speed or reflexes, but positioning and acumen, and those things usually improve with age and experience, not deteriorate until eventually they too deteriorate in extreme boxing old age, as the stamina lets the fighter down.

I don't think Alvarez is going to beat Cotto so I'm pretty sure he loses to Golovkin
Strangely enough, I also think Cotto would give Golovkin more problems than Alvarez which most people seem to disagree with. Sure, he hammers them both, just slightly more problems in hammering Cotto
Hammers them with brickfuck

The poll result so far is every bit as brutal as I'd expect the beating for Canelo to be.

Cannot wait to see GGG finally get his long overdue megafight.

Three people must think that GGG is spelt Canelo.

Golovkin. From middleweight down he hammers everyone. I don't think it is coincidence that people aren't lining up to fight him and prefering not to fight for the world title and pick up their biggest pay days.

Sitting in the middle weight seems to be a complete waste.

I think in any poll with over 100 votes you probably have to assume that a small percentage, say 3%, may have accidentally clicked the wrong button.

I said this before, and was met with opprobrium and large ginger men wearing leather trousers, - but that's another story.
I give Cotto a good chance - although Alvarez is the bigger man, he's not THAT much bigger, and Cotto is hugely experienced, and for my money, technically better than Canelo.
He gave Floyd as hard as time as anyone in my opinion and made him work as hard as anyone since Castillo. I know that was some time ago, but I wouldn't say Cotto is past it, he's still technically very good. He's always struggled most with speedsters, and Canelo isn't that quick - I make it a pretty even fight, though I expect Canelo to be betting favourite.

GGG would beat him, but it wouldn't be as ridiculously easy and one sided as the poll on here would suggest, if it was why would anyone bother watching it?

Canelo has said he'd only fight GGG @155 which says to me he doesn't want anything to do with him ,I guess GGG must of bashed him up in sparring

Because Canelo Alvarez is very skilled and has a lot of pride? He'd maybe fight like hell for the win and it may be the fight that makes Golovkin get out of second gear and make him a massive star.

Yes, that's my feeling, is that even if he takes a drubbing, he will keep fighting back hard, and force GGG to put on a show.
I think the only danger is that GGG just completely outclasses him, because the skill gap is too wide, and it's just like the Lemieux (or however you spell the bastard's name - think I'm spelling it differently every time) fight, he just picks him to pieces - though Canelo does appear to have a bit more than Lemiuex, GGG may just be able to up his level even more to shut him out.
Let's wait and see. I look forward to watching GGG again.

GGG 96% [ 119 ]
It seems that Golovkin reached the dominance similar to Maywhethers in recent years, where noone believes he can loose in his weight class.

Jesus, us fans spent years watching allegedly shows on sky which up until the night before were mostly Sports Network fighter v TBA. I think, even though 96% think GGG would win, every fan of boxing would be watching.
I have a gut feeling Alvarez is going to do a number on Cotto, but GGG would be a step too far.
Said it before, only Ward from 154-168 beats / is a 50-50 or 60-40 fight for GGG.
Wouldnt half mind Froch coming out of retirement for a go though.
The 4 people who voted for Canelo havent explained themselves!

I recall one poster, I believe a Scot, who picked Canelo over GGG following the Monroe fight, though he hasn't posted in this thread yet and I'm unsure of whether his view has changed in light of GGG-Lemieux.

Yeah, I think Golovkin beats everyone else up to 168, and I'd favour him against Froch 2:1. I'd favour Ward 3:2. Kovalev definitely wins, but I'd actually give Golovkin an outside chance against Stevenson.
The only other super-middleweight who beats Golovkin is someone I haven't heard of yet. As it stands, he and Hopkins are the pre-eminent middleweights of the past twenty-odd years.

Ok Let's play devil's advocate here, because let's face it, this is one of the few superfights on the horizon.
Everybody is obviously on the GG bandwagon as it disappears into the blue yonder ( and I must admit I was at the football on Saturday and some of the footie fans around me were talking about GG being the best fighter in the world, and how they'd included him in their various accumulator bets that weekend, which is great, because I thought no one outside of the boxing community had heard of him ) Note **** but they also referred to Chris Eubank Jr as a world champion
but....let's not forget, Canelo is a special fighter, only one person has beaten him and we know who that is, and surely he'll be the best fighter GG will have faced. He's got every punch in the book, heavy hands, great chin and he's a born winner.
He's going to do a number on the faded Cotto and will probably look sensational, Plus his list of opponents is far more impressive than Golovkin's, whose world title defences have largely consisted of journeyman, let's be honest.
Look at the way Canelo took out Kirkland in sensational style, THIS is who we need to see in against GGG.
Viva Mexico !!!!!!

as yet unproven, I'd say....

Agree on the above, especially that Canelo is going to look sensational against Cotto, who whilst has seen a late resurgence we have to consider since losing to trout he's beaten Rodriguez (?) then a completley washed up martinez and Daniel de geale - canelo is on the up and will dispose of him in they type of fight where both land, but Canelo lands harder cleaner and more often.
GGG Canelo will be a Superfight, without doubt. Just can't see GGG losing on current form, mind you, he is 33, probably 34 by time the fight would come around with Alvarez coming into his pomp at 26...
