I thought Barry Jones was exemplary in his reaction. it must have been so tempting to at least say something but Barry showed true class and dignity. He is a well rounded human being, a top bloke who by his reaction will have gained even greater respect. Patel on the other hand came across exactly as he is - a childish, respectless little nobody who nobody other than fellow knob heads will have any respect for.

There are lines you don't cross and being downright rude about an ex world champion who was twice the fighter Patel will ever be is one of them.

The question is whether he is any good ? I've not seen him fight yet and flyweight in this country generally get to title level quickly due to lack of fighters at the weight.

Ah Patel, I was wondering about him the other week actually. I remember him holding court after his first pro fight. It looks like he's getting even more outlandish. You can always argue if it gets him attention etc. it can't be bad but to me saying that about Barry Jones is beyond the pale. Still, it's not the first time a boxer has talked disrespectfully about an ex-fighter (not that it's an excuse).

I dont't buy into the all publicity is good publicity line. Patel's publicity is like that of a paedo, I'll clock the face so as to keep it away from my kids but I won't be making any effort to watch him in action.
