A lot of people bet against Lewis in that fight, but I had no doubts he would beat Golota, though my prediction was KO5 win for Lewis, not KO1.

But I had a really bad pick in another Golota fight. I thought he would beat up and stop Lamon Brewster in the mid rounds, but Brewster demolished him faster than Lewis did.

I put £50 of George Groves to iron out Badou Jack inside the first three rounds. I based this reckless decision on:

-Groves being sharp in the early rounds and having enough pop to floor opponents like Froch, Smith, and stop a tough man like Kenny Anderson
- Groves would be as sharp as he was for the first Froch fight
- Badou Jack getting spectaularly taken out inside a round in one of his previous fights and I thought that he was brave but limited.
- A very good return on my money.

What I learnt from this, was not to bet on boxing, other than a Mayweather points win.

Froch-groves 2. Double on Groves by decision + Gonzales to beat Degale.

Told my mates it was a cracking bet! Based on thinking Degale had looked so poor all the times he was fighting on Channel 5, I just didn't think he had owt left. Had never seen Gonzales fight, just knew he was unbeaten and trained by Virgil Hunter so thought bookies had priced it wrong. Same with Groves v Froch, thought it could have went either way so just thought the value was with Groves to win on Points. Would have been mildly irate with Groves being stopped but my bet was already down. (I know it was as a legitimate KO as you'll ever see, but with Money talking i'd have convinced myself otherwise

1) Audley Harrison to beat Danny Williams the first time around.

The rage inducing thing about that was that Harrison could & should have won that fight at a canter, but he almost literally wet himself in the ring & just could not perform.

Truly pathetic performance by Harrison.

2) David Tua to beat Lennox Lewis. I thought the ageing Lewis would have finally bitten off more than he could chew against the powerful juggernaut that was Tua, but that was before I realised that Tua only had ONE tactic of throwing single Left hooks & hoping to catch Lewis with one of them & KO him.

If I had known that Tua would have offered nothing else, I wouldn't have disrespected Lewis by predicting his demise so readily.

Remember telling everyone at work that Haye was going to destroy Wlad :KO:

Didn't a regular poster put a grand on povetkin to beat Wlad ?

No money involved but I too was brainwashed into thinking Bruno could do it against Tyson in their second fight. I think it was the first PPV and the sky team, esp McGuigan had talked up Bruno to the hilt.

I actually think this was a good bet in theory and your logic is pretty strong. It didn't work out, but it was well thought out. What were the odds?

13-1, which would have given a cool £650 + my money back. I knew within 30 seconds of watching it that I had lost my money as Jack was a lot better than I had anticipated. It was a high class fight, though, and Groves deserves respect for coming back from being floored in the first round. I hope he doesn't lose too much confidence and also tightens up his defense.

Golota was one of the most unusual boxers around. He had plenty of talent; a good jab, good timing and could throw punches in combinations. Yet, he could blow hot and cold. After watching him have two wars against Bowe and absorbing a lot of shots from Bowe (who could punch), it was bizzare seeing him get taking out in about 30 seconds by Brewster

Mike Tyson to take out Danny Williams in the 1st round at about 7/1, even had the second round backed as a fail safe.

Worst thing is I mentioned it at work and everyone in the office jumped in on it heavily too.

That reminds me... I put £100 Tyson to Ko McBride in a round at 8/11...... I really couldn't see any other result (at a push Tyson ko2.)

That must have been really frustrating because had Tyson not done is knee in (you could see him wince when it happened), I reckon he would have stopped Danny in the first round.

I found it gutting watching him lose to Danny Williams, but to then lose to Kevin McBride, it showed just how badly he had slipped.

I remember the Williams vs Long fight as well, I also thought it would be a couple of round blowout for Williams, but turned into a good scrap for the title, from memory Long didn't have any amateur experience either

Already been mentioned but i lost a bit on ODLH vs Pac. Ive overestimated size a couple of times. Canelo vs Floyd was another terrible pick. I fancied the ginger kid to have way too much power. Catchweight maybe played a part.

As for 4 figure bets, i'm making my first 4figure bet in November. Klitchko to KO Fury, better than evens.

Probably picking Haye vs Klitschko.

I based this upon:
Klitschko barely throws his right hand, controls everything off his jab, and I couldn't see Haye being stopped by the jab
David Haye's a big puncher
Klitschko's been knocked out before
Sooner or later Haye will land his right hand

Had I known about Haye's toe injury of course, my prediction would have been completely different.

Too many to mention....it is a bit of a deep, dark and shameful tar pit to be honest.

Haye had me fooled he had the power and plan to crack Wlad like an egg and he'd do a Sanders in his sleep.
I thought David Price would get things ship-shape and rectified against Tony Thompson second-time round.....nope, wrong again.
Thought Chisora would punch some big holes in Haye....based upon the premise of not entirely trusting/rating Haye any longer.
Believed Pulev had all the credentials/tools to upset Wlad as well......clearly, pure la-la-land fantasy on my part.

Absolute rubbish with the heavyweights
