Not a lot. Remember Japan doesn't do PPV so that keeps purses over there... More reasonable, suspect he got a solid payday for Yaegashi though. Think he said an Estrada rematch would cost $1-2 million for a combined purse (think it was to be split 50-50 as well) and some folk have been saying that's his way to "duck" the rematch, absolute bull shit from those deluded pudenda.

I didn't buy Floyd's last fight because it was a farce. And I said so here and other places. And I didn't buy this one for the same reason. It was a joke. Hell, I even pick Lemieux to win, knowing it would probably take the luckiest punch in boxing history.

But I knew this ppv would be a trainwreck one way or another.

The only lemonade that can be made from this lemon lies in the fact that maybe Loeffler will see that the jig is up and start putting Golovkin in with tougher opposition.

Maybe the lemonade is we finally get to see how great Gennady can be.

Why people bring Mayweather comparison? Floyd wasn't a big PPV star at all prior to De La Hoya fight. He couldn't even make 380 K buys against Gatti, Judah and Baldomir. Floyd PPV numbers increased dramatically afer ODLH fight. Let's look at GGG PPV numbers after he beats Canelo.

It just didn’t help that Golovkin's very poor showing in the buys department handed Canelo and Cotto even more reasons to act like Divas. And the sad part is there will be an element of truth to their excuses.

Yeah, we as fans might be able to see it is BS, but it is going to stick. Both men will point to his numbers to give him a crummy split. And they will make him drain himself to get that little bone they throw him.

If I am Loeffler, I schedule a name fight for December. On regular cable. Get those millions of views back in folks minds.

close to a million PPV buys and maybe in an outdoor stadium. how much is lee really going to
make fighting saunders in december? there is a chance each time lee fights he will lose
his title, so he would be an idiot not to take $1.5mil to fight GGG. the loss wouldn't hurt his
rep at all and he could probably contend at 154 immediately after. if he loses to the likes of
saunders, he won't even sniff a fraction of a mil again. i see the lee-GGG fight going off before

And tell Senor Sense that DLH's highest ppv without Floyd is 1.4 million against Trinidad- about a full million buys less than Oscar vs Floyd.

To say DLH "made" Floyd is just not accurate. He was a springboard for Mayweather, but there's plenty of reason to think Floyd would have eventually made it to megastar status without Oscar...just would have took longer.

i dont think so. before de la hoya, floyd was a nobody in terms of ppv, afterwards, without de la hoya he would have faced hatton, old mosley. marqeuz and ortiz. sorry, you dont get a ppv superstar by boxing those guys. on top when you are a boring ass boxer, take 1 year vacations and dont fight the best in your era.

there are 3 reasons why floyd became this ppv super star and the most important reason was de la hoya. he gave him the celebrity platform, the attention. the second reason was floyd being "money" persona and flashing, youung people are so dumb, they buy into the lifestyle and stupidity- the 3 reason was the fantasy match up against pacquiao.

I think that you're talking about pennies on the dollar when you talk about how much more money will be generated by GGG fighting Quillin or Lee. One could argue that it would make less money than GGG/Lemieux.

I think that we can all forget about the unification fight. There's no way Cotto signs on to fight GGG if he wins, no shot. I thought that Canelo had the nuggets to take on GGG but now he's yapping about catch weights below the Middleweight Limits, Canelo is naturally heavier than GGG too. He's showing his true colors.

At some point, SOMEONE has to take a chance and a risk if they want to make a fraction of the proceeds Floyd typically got in his PPV fights. GGG does hold some of those cards himself and it's going to take him either coming down in weight or move on up to take on the bigger men out there. He's not young so at some point in the next couple of years, he's going to have to make some tough decisions.

The Canelo/Cotto fight was so appealing to me because i thought that the winner would be facing GGG. But now i know that they will just vacate the title if forced to fight GGG and that stinks.

GGG may wind up dropping to 158 to get the deal signed, but it won't make a difference in the
end. if canelo wins next month, the GGG negotiations for sat may 7 will start within a week.

I hope so man. But I don't see Canelo beating Cotto. Cotto is too quick and powerful for him. I see Cotto winning the early and middle rounds but slowing down towards the end like he has in the past and if Canelo doesn't get the late KO then Cotto will win comfortably. Canelo is elite versus a slow power puncher but just good against the elite swift quick boxers.
