I'd agree he appears bitter, but a lot of it is true.

There does seem to be a definite agenda at work, basically, anyone who opposes sports Network seems to get it in the neck, or am I being paranoid?

Xtremebox talks about Johnny Nelson being the top man at Cruiser. In the UK, yes. But on the world scene forget it.

If people like extremebox and snoopy are employees of a promoter who has them checking websites to see what is being siad about the promoter, then they and the promoter should really start concentrating on the core of their business, which used to be trying to deliver genuine quality boxing matches.

Incidentally, are Sports Network listed on AIM or Ofex. It would be interesting to see how the shares are performing and how they are held.

Anyone know.

Perhaps extremebox or snoopy could do something useful and find out.

A lot of blokes wouldn't have done so in case it annoyed the producers, meaning it less likely he would work for them in the future.

There were a lot of poignant stories from the event. Prince Rodney looked unshaven and rough and I know he's been living in bedsit land down in London for a while (though he told me he's now back in Huddersfield). Des Morrison has endured eye problems and looked like he had a bit of a drink problem (haven't we all, I suppose). Des and former stablemate Dave "Boy" Green joined Joe Calzaghe as the most pissed ex-champions at the event.
Jimmy Cable was also well-pissed - but that guy has got the secret of eternal youth! He didn't look a day older than when he was fighting in the 80's. Incidentally, forget all that crap about Danielle Cable - Jimmy's daughter - and the 'road rage' stabbing of her boyfriend by Kenneth Noye. Noye wanted 'a word' with Danielle that day because her old man had shafted him. It was nothing to do with road rage whatsoever.
Lloyd Honeyghan came in wearing his customary silly hat, looking at least five stone overweight. James Cook outdid him with a pair of silly leather trousers. Junior Witter's name was missed out when they did a rollcall of the light-welter champs present. He didn't look too happy, but had looked miserable even before then. It wouldn't kill him to smile a little. Michael Gomez was the only one present who couldn't be bothered to dress for the event. They managed to stick a dinner jacket on him, over a T-shirt. He was apparently quite rowdy on his table but when I spoke to him seemed a good guy. "I just love fighting," he told me. "Absolutely love it." I told him he was wasted on the WBU and ought to target a big name American. He's at his peak right now and has the hunger and the power to pull off a shock in my opinion. But he'll probably end up fighting a Frenchman next.
Les Potts (a Board man through and through) sat on the table of Mike and Jason Shinfield, who spent the whole evening slagging off the Board. Potts exploded on the way back home the following day. He had to get it off his chest.
It wasn't all doom and gloom: Mark Reefer and Sylvester Mittee looked well (Sylvester has had a hard time of late), Glenn Catley and Dean Francis looked like they could do 12 rounds tomorrow, and Alan Minter (always liable to get pissed and cause a commotion) was on particularly good form.

Minter loves a light ale, and as for Witter, I met him in Derby, he's one of the most arrogant and rude people I've ever met.

Thing is, he's got nothing to be arrogant about. I'd love to see him sparked. A two bob champion who couldnt sell out a phone booth.

I had a great night. A lot depends on who you sit with. If you get a bunch of arrogant bastards, you're fucked. But I had Eamonn Magee, Dale and Hobbo. How could I go wrong?
Magee made me laugh all night. He told us Warren and his cronies were "shitting themselves" leading up to his fight with Hatton.

Yes, Witter gets angry about being eclipsed by Hatton, but the fact is, the people in the part of the world where they are both from after all, like Hatton, and couldn't give a toss about Witter. Hatton is personable, humble and down to earth, whilst Witter tries to pull the flash harry card, but does it too gracelessly to attract any fans.

Witter is a talented fighter, but you have to be popular if you want to be a star, and that's something he never has.

Heard it was shit do full of autograph hunters with speeches to send you to sleep. some guests were so bored that had gone by 10.30 to get lashed elsewhere so dare say he made the right choice not to go if invited.

Anyhow the money it cost the board could've been spent on helping ex boxers on hard times or towards a MRI machine

Everyone I know who went had a good time, guess you can't please everyone.

As aforementioned, I was there and enjoyed it. The speeches were fine. How on earth were people bored (if they actually have an interest in boxing that is)?

There were famous faces all over the place and plenty of interesting people to talk too.

As for cost...it will have cost a few quid certainly, but I don't think it's fair to object to commemorating such a milestone.
