It doesn't need to be PPV, but it is because it will probably make more money that way.

This idea that a show can only be a PPV if that's the only way the fight could be financed seems silly to me.

Was it Hearn himself who hyped up this idea whilst trying to justify a previous PPV show?

Sadly most on here already assumed this was going PPV from how Hearn has been talking about it.

Coming two weeks after the Fury PPV seems a bit of a cash grab especially so close to Christmas.

Whilst I'll accept that Joshua seems a great prospect, that's all he is & this is just another domestic scrap, no way is this a PPV fight. But he's got some serious name power & I can see people shelling out for this, PPV is going to get far worse come 2016 if this is a success.

Of course Fury might get sparked in a round, upset the casuals & they won't be prepared to shell out for another potentially disappointing boxing PPV. A few I know are still upset after the Pac/ Mayweather fight.

Shocking decision to make this PPV but not surprised with Eddie/Sky they love nothing more than sticking 2 fingers up

Its getting to the point where we have to pay PPV for one of his shows if it got more than one 50/50 on it,

The worst thing is he says himself when a fighter fights PPV their a PPV fighter from now on,like he says with Brook,so now Joshua is a PPV fighter i expect punters to get fleeced until he gets beat,might be this fight,might be in 20 fights time

But Joshua will be PPV through British,European and world level,assuming he gets that far

That is a testament of how strong boxing has become in the UK. Two untested prospects on PPV. B/C level domestic fighters on PPV. And fans are buying them, happily. You have to give it to Eddie, the man is a genius.

Yup. Hearn rightly gets some stick, particularly for his recent output, but Frank put on plenty of shocking PPVs when he was on Sky.

True, but I remember when he (via Sky) used to put on a PPV that included a strong domestic card, then crossing over to America for another show which included genuine boxing stars. To me that's what a PPV should be, but those days are long gone.

No way a domestic scrap deserves PPV status, especially when both guys are unproven at World level. But as already said Joshua will be considered a PPV fighter from now on, unless this bombs of course.

Could Brook be on this now he is a PPV fighter?

Whyte's not even proven at English title level.

Could he even beat McDermott for his English title? We don't know because it didn't happen for whatever reason.

Of course this is PPV worthy. I mean how can Eddie afford to put average domestic fights on TV otherwise? Needless to say I won't be buying it.

I think it's short termism too - surely Joshua needs exposure, he's not going to get that on a PPV event.

The major problem is with PPV the buy rate probably doesn't have to be that high on an event like this to turn a decent profit. Sky hood their research and no what to expect, given the audiences for the last few AJ's last few fights they can probably accurately estimate how much will buy this fight. It's terrible but unfortunately it's the way the business works. I just hope the fans get sick of it.

I can't bear to watch sky's hype around this.

Lol, the whole internet will be full of free streams, it's allways like that. Dutch football has been bought by some rich American, he tought holland was a footballcrazy country and asked about 10 euro for every match. Since then a few persons buy it and simply stream it on youtube for example. Put a link in the discription where people who watch can send their money to and there you go, everybody happy except for some greedy rich persons.


Povetkin Wach was also live to see, so I don't have any worries not to see this live without paying a dime, I probably can't even pay them since I don't live in the UK.
