The fact he says Smith win the first two rounds either shows his incompetence or he is just trolling.

Just watched that interview with Joe. It's the first time I've ever heard him speak at length and I must say he came across very well. The criticism he gets on here is very funny at times but I can't help thinking there's a certain amount of jealousy behind some of the comments.

If I had to offer a theory as to why he gets so much stick on here it'd be that here's a guy who didn't box and whose fighters seem to employ unsophisticated tactics and yet he's one of the most high profile trainers in Britain and has had his work recognized internationally. His detractors may feel that they could just as easily get a boxer in condition and get him to plod forward with a high guard for a few rounds til his opponent tires. I'm no expert but I expect that there's a lot more to Joe's methods than people give him credit for.

At the end of the day he's trained several fighters to domestic success and one or two to success at fringe world level so he deserves credit for that surely. If he's a bit arrogant, so what. He's undeniably a big success in his chosen profession so why shouldn't he be pleased with himself.

I think there was a big opportunity missed by Kugan there to clarify who "they" who didn't want Smith to win were. Gallagher rattled off a fair few options, all fair enough, but the question should have been asked "so who was it then?".

Overall, I think Gallagher made a few valid points and did okay. First round definitely a Warren round though.

But that's not good enough for them though when the majority of his fighters CLEARLY are not better than domestic level.

I've disliked him for years for multiple reasons, but even I'll admit by his standards he didn't seem too bad in that interview.

Absolute cock for having a go at that 2 hour weight time for Smith. Liam smith didn't make weight the first time THE END. NO EXCUSES . Yet he is saying Liam Smith is entitled to a world title fight v Cotto at 154. No he isn't he didn't make weight.

From a quick search it seems Stuarty30 cracked a joke about Joe looking like one of the salesman in his Tesco and it has taken on a life of its own since! I think it's quite funny, certainly Gallagher was able to laugh at it.

Why do people have to do this, why do we need to rationalise why there might be a widespread dislike of someone and come up with some theory that turns it back round on the "haters"
The guy comes across as a bit of a dick, it really is that simple for me and I suspect for many others.

He got the credit he deserved when he was doing well and is now getting stick for being on a shite run.
I personally don't think he was ever the best trainer in the world and equally don't think he's become useless over night.

I don't get where the idea that people are jealous of him comes from. If that were the case I'd hate Shane McGuigan, Robert McCracken and Adam Booth

I also think he comes across as a Bertie big bollocks, who seems to have an inflated sense of his own brilliance and is unable to accept perfectly reasonable criticism. The Quigg vs Frampton tactics for instance were one of the most obvious displays of tactical ineptitude I have ever witnessed. He may be a great trainer, a great motivator, a great tactician. I don't know, he's had his successes, but there are examples where he's made an arse of it. A bigger man would hold his hands up to his short comings.

Amazed people think he came out well in the interview. I think he is a bit of a dick but I don't really give a shite, it rates about 1 out of 1000 on my radar, probably lower. But fuk me he came across as a real snide in that interview with the whole "they can read it how they like, I never said Frank, I was firing him up, I did not say allegedly had it in for him" and all that, total fcking snide.

Basing a dislike of someone on how they come across on telly is something we all do but it's a bit daft really.

I prefer interviewees to be spiky and defensive when some gobshite reporter is trying to pour scorn on their efforts and trying to create a pithy soundbite for their fvcking click bait headlines. I like sports people who tell it as they see it and don't just trot out the usual p1sspoor cliches in the style of AJ and all the other media trained robots.

Again I like a sportsman or trainer who reacts badly to getting beat and who is a bit full of himself. I think most people who are near the top of their profession are a bit arrogant and they're entitled to be to an extent.
