Tyson Fury would have been massive news back in 1985, but then he would have had
all his fights on the BBC.

The Davis Cup victory in Belgium was shown free and on the BBC, so, more people saw
it and thus, more people are talking about it.

I remember that too, I also remember when Barry McGuigan beat Eusebio Pedroza and despite it being as big as that fight, Hatton got about a tenth of the prestige and the acclaim McGuigan got on the back of that fight.

I bet any money, more people would recognise McGuigan than Ricky Hatton - even now.

And sports writers aren't going to write about sports that don't have wide exposure, not that they have that kind of power anyway, they are told what to write, not have the power to dictate what they can write about. Boxing used to have wide media exposure, and that is why Chris Eubank is able to go to 'I'm a celebrity' nearly twenty years after he last boxed, do you think Carl Frampton will be able to do the same, I don't think so.

Course it has! If only x amount of people watch the fight on pay per view compared to tens of millions on terrestrial TV then less people are going to talk about it, seems like an obvious mathematical equation to me.

As for Fury getting tarnished, well, probably he would but then no-one can look good against Vladimir Klitskcho - he is a hard man to look good against, never mind beat.

Boxing it its own worst enemy, I don't know about more people talking about Haye beating Valuev, I think the talking point about that fight (on here at least) was that he managed to get an away points decision in Germany!

In fairness if you watch the IFL interview with Tyson he said that article was a complete stitch up job and that the comments were taken completely out of context and misquoted.

He had actually said something along the lines of peados in the government tried to use the legalising of being gay to push through the legalisation of peadophelia on the back of it, and he also showed the article from the BBC on his phone which published the article which appears to be true.

He said he didn't say being homosexual was wrong but didn't confirm what his personal beliefs are.
