Yes Cunningham always comes ready to fight and in great shape.It would be a little bit of a risk

He isn't as good as his stats suggest, he gained most of his points in lower weightdivisions, just like Adamek

Steve is old, small, can't punch much, is easily hurt, and couldn't even beat Tarver--who rocked him several times--last time out; Wilder should handily defeat someone like that at this stage.

USS would certainly be one of his best opponents, but at this point I think that's a fight Deontay wins handily and IF his team are weary of matching him with a small guy who gets hurt easily and lacks power they sure don't have much confidence in him.

How the hell did you come to that conclusion? I wrote 'IF', and if you know the meaning of that word you should realise that I wasn't stating that Wilder's team are weary of him fighting USS and therefore lack confidence in him; instead, I was suggesting that in the case that they think Steve is too dangerous (I suspect that they don't believe this) a serious lack of confidence in Deontay would be apparent. Would you dispute that? If they had confidence in him why would they think a relatively small, chinny, non-puncher who just failed to beat Tarver is too dangerous?

Takam would be a good opponent and he's been active lately. He's also more similar to Povetkin than people like Spzilka (how easily people forget that he hardly won a round against and was stopped by Jennings) and USS are.

Deontay will get a thumbs up from me if that's who he faces in January.

No way Pianeta gets a third opportunity at a heavyweight belt. Especially since he was just humiliated in a round or two a couple of months ago by that old, shorty Chagaev. Which I think was the first time that the Russian had stopped anyone in several years.
I also thought that Szpilka likely had an inside track, but now it sounds like he's bellyaching about the short notice & has ruled himself out.

Short training camp, most likely little money, low key events. Compare it to Fury v Klitschko. No wonder other heavyweights are looking away to other federations..

Wilders team are doing their best to cripple boxing as a sport outside where he comes from..

If they were serious they would have names before setting up fights like he still is a prospect i.e Jo Parker, Josh etc.. Its for a world title belt ffs..

cutman & crusader - Like the two of you, I'd be plenty impressed if Takam was brought in for the opportunity vs Wilder.
Realistically though, I'd be very much surprised if Wilder's people would accept the Frenchman as the opponent for a "showcase" bout/voluntary title defense like this. As he was fighting with Sasha on even terms going into the 10th round when he was stopped by Povetkin in Russia last year. And, he's got to be in good shape because he just beat George Arias over 8 rounds last Saturday night.
Takam would actually be an excellent measuring stick as far as where Wilder's at in his career at the moment. I'd love to see the fight made.

Potvetkin was ready for this bum after he took care of Perez in 90 seconds but after Wilder saw that fight he ran for the hills. He won't fight Pulev, he could fight Teper, instead that coward fought the guy that LOST to Teper. LOL What a joke. He could fight Chagaev. I'd be happy with Chisora at this point. Wilder is just another American propped up bum.

Joshua would beat Wilder easily. This fight would be a stoppage and Joshua would have the belt. It would be an easy win. Parker and Joshua would wipe the floor with Wilder.

Don't blame Wilder when Povetkin schedules a fight one month after the negotiation period is to begin and gets cut, then his camp begs the WBC for more time to prepare. Wilder and his team has no intention of avoiding Povetkin, they are willing to fight in Russia if need be. Just listen to any of their interviews in the last six months.

Joshua is not ready for Wilder. His management was hesitant to put him in there with Dillian friggin Whyte at this point but he forced their hand.
