I was gonna say CS, but why limit it to just here- this is the dumbest sh*t I've read on the internet in a while. Bnovelist is slapping himself for not thinking of this in the buildup to a Mayweather fight and creating a similar thread.

Clearly you're an idiot who knows eff all about boxing
Amateur boxer = closes eyes when getting punched in face
Professional boxer = keeps eyes open when getting punched in face
Then there is no such thing as a professional boxer. Every boxer sometimes has his eyes closed. We all blink. I think some of you are being a bit hard on Quillen. He got stopped in the first round by another good fighter. End of story.

Do a google search and type in the words BOXING PICS.
You will see all of the all time greats with their eyes closed when punched in the face.
I mean SRR,SRL,PEP,ARMSTRONG ETC....All have pics of them with their eyes closed when taking a huge shot.
It is just part of the game

The referee has his eyes open. What is his name? he must be crowned the ring magazine middleweight champion of the world.

I heard that after beating George Groves at Wembley, in front of 80,000 people, Carl Froch slept the full night with his eyes open, he's THAT hard

Did you know that Chuck Norris has never closed his eyes and he never will?

Vze3jnhz: I agree that closing your eyes when being attacked by a "fist storm" could be a natural defense mechanism. What was unprofessional to me was attempting to fight on and not grabbing and holding while he got his senses back.

No, IKornCob is right.
It is highly unprofessional to close your eyes when you are getting your meat loafed.
Shame on all of you for doubting his expertise.
Kid Choc crossed the line when he did the Baby Giraffe Polka just because Jacobs happened
to batter him about the temple area.
He should have grunted like Rocky did at Apollo Creed in their first Heavyweight Championship, then
asked Jacobs if "that's all you got?"
Then he should have walked back to his corner, screamed "Adrienne" and started shadowboxing with a side of beef.
Amateur!
I just hope he acts like a pro next time...

I read a few of the statements. Anything can and will happen in a RING. I think most part you "back seat drivers" doing the negative suggestions that it's UNPRO. But I guess what I'm saying already has been said by those here who have posted the other fights pictures (Delaha- May etc.]

Vze3jnhz :The posted fight pictures said it all and only those who have never been there would ever call Quillin unpofessional. His true professionalism was obvious during the post-fight interview when he accepted defeat as one of those things that happen in boxing. No whining or blaming or excuses, just recognition that this fight got away from him.

Vze3jnhz: Startled response is a natural phenomenon and immediate eye closure or blinking is symptomatic.

Everyone blinks. You blink while reading or watching TV. A camera can catch anyone blinking. Having said that, it is better to blink as little as possible while boxing. Many trainers like Cus D-Amato talked about you take a punch better if you see it coming.
