Yeah, it may have been Gene Hatcher

calling out floyd mayweather after one of his fights in bridgend. Was pretty fun stuff, especially as I think he wanted Mayweather to fight him in the Bridgend community centre.

James Toney after the Holyfield fight was classic. Kept telling showtime commentator Jim Grey that he didn't like him.

Farnell and Warren after the first Groenwald fight as well.

Najib Daho in broken English saying "Thank you, Newbon," to Gary Newbon back in the 80's - because Najib clearly thought that was his first name! This was an era when Newbon was known for being rude to boxers in his post-fight interviews and Najib must have heard people in the gym deriding "Newbon" and just picked up on it.
Najib said "Thank you, Newbon," halfway through the interview and then again at the end. It was soooo funny.

It was def against Bumphus where we ran over and clipped him while he was on his stool.

I thought as much. I feel vindicated.

Steve Robinsons' when he won the title against Davidson - it was just unintentionally funny.

Gary Newborn couldn't understand him when he said "Can you repeat it again" referring to the question. Robinson was such in shock he wasn't in a state to do interviews.

The one interview which was so bad it became funny was Carl Johansson' when he beat Greaves - don't think he has done one since.

I seem to remember that one, Johannsen isn't the most charismatic or confident of speakers is he?

One of the funniest I saw was John Mugabi, on the Tyson - Holmes undercard.

Mugabi won by KO, as usual.

I think it was Larry Merchant asked him "Youve been out of the ring for 14 months, obviously in need of getting some rounds under your belt, your strategy seemed to be to take your time and let your power tell in the later rounds. Can you give us your analysis of the fight".

Mugabi: "I knock him out"

Thats all he said, there was an eerie pause, then Merchant said, "well we certainly saw you did that but can you tell us why you have been out of the ring for so long?"

Mugabi: "I knock him out"

Pure class.

Harry Carpenter interviewing Kirkland Laing.

Harry, and certainly most of the watching audience I'm sure, will not have had a clue what he was on about.

The only two things I picked up 'Ah hit him haaaaaard!' and 'I was cool man!'

Howard Eastmans interviews are funny. He never answers any questions he gets asked, he just completely ignores the question and talks about something else.

I once said, tricky opponent about EIGHT times after i boxed zolile mabite or whatever his name was. Very embarassing watching the re-run in the morning

Another Tyson one actually, after stopping Tyrell Biggs in the 7th round he was explaining to Larry Merchant how Biggs had been 'crying like a girl' and 'making girl noises' after the 3rd round. It's bloody hilarious because Tyson was saying it with a wry smile and actually mimicking the noises.

Not very gracious and I'm sure if Lewis had said the same thing he would have been slaughtered but bloody comical all the same.

Yeah mate thats true I love his post fight interviews he is so "out there" in a world of his own, the interviewers asking the questions get so frustrated

Zab Judah's dressing room interview after tjhe Tszyu fight is great...he says 'Know what I'm sayin'' more often than he says any other words.

HE's trying to convince the interviewer that he wasn't hurt...the playback shows him get up after being floored and he says 'look at me I'm telling the referee that I'm ok...' and then on cue he just staggers into his breakdance...Judah had obviously forgotten this detail.


I'm trying to track this gem doen on tape...

I always like listening to Thomas McDonagh and Ojay Abrahams in their post-fight interviews. Both are genuine characters who don't take themselves too seriously.
