Both of them got found out last night, cant remember a fight where the hype has exceeded the quality as much as this. Joshua will probably get steered to a paper title e.g. the IBF and Whyte will get some paydays on the back of his gutsy effort, but both are way short of top level
This will happen back end of 2016 IMO. The two possible IBF champions
Glazkov scrapped past Cunningham, Malik Scott and Cedric Rossy who Audley wiped out FFS
Charles Martin has fought worse opposition than AJ. If his team had confidence in him they would not have been getting Tom Dallas as an opponent in April ( Dallas previous outing 18 months prior southern area title KO loss )
Whilst not thinking AJ is second coming of God I still think he would smash either of the above ( not seen Martin just going off his matchmaking)
As for Fury doubt he is bothered he will get mega money for Wlad anyway. Hearn will not rush AJ to Fury he will milk it what he can. Get the IBF belt next year couple of defences then the title picture could be quite different.

AJ's workrate picked back up respectably after that alarming dip in round 3, fair enough. But his footwork was just awful for the rest of fight - plodding after Whyte in straight lines, setting and throwing. Not enough head movement and not enough invention. At least his combinations and power shots were nice and crisp when Whyte was straight in front of him.
That version of AJ would get clowned by Fury, who would just dance around him jabbing him in the face and talking shit relentlessly until Joshua gives up through nerve-induced exhaustion and frustration. He needs to stop with the heavy weights and work on his stamina and footwork.

Joshua is a relative novice & Fury is a seasoned professional who just happens to be the HW Champion of the world.
Now is not the time to be comparing the two to each other.

Someone should tell AJ that, who was quick to say after Fury's win that he'd back himself to win right now.

I think that is the basis of the thread, the casuals, Hearn and AJ all seemed to believe that AJ was a destroyer who was capable of beating any heavy weight in the world right now.
The reality is that he looked vulnerable against Whyte, now people are trying to make out Whyte is a top level fighter. He's not he's an unproven novice.
They were planning on putting Joshua in with Haye in the summer. Haye would have broken him and ended his career before it got started.
From what I saw last night against a shorter, cruder boxer, who hasn't had the amateur pedigree or huge amount of world class sparring and training experience of his rival, AJ is at least a year away from stepping up to the top fighters at best, and at worse isn't ever going to be good enough.

I don't understand the rush with fighters, he's been a pro for just over 2 years, slow the fornicate down, the titles will still be there.

Must admit around the time that Fury was ducking David Price I would have said no way will he be heavyweight champ.

A few weeks ago Joshua claimed he didn't do weights! He must have a short memory:

The idea that Tyson Fury has slowly evolved into some sort of refined fighter, culminating in his oh-so-impressive win over a statue, and that such a rich vein of learning vs the likes of Kevin Johnson and Derek Chisora should automatically place him leagues above Joshua, even a present-day Joshua, is...interesting.
How does Whyte do against those versions of Johnson and Chisora? I guess he would be crushed against them, because after all he is a 'novice' and as such he doesn't fit in with this weird linear development idea that some folks feel is so important. Why is it not ok to surmise that Joshua has shown enough at this stage? How have Fury's defensive issues been forgotten just because he didn't have to defend against actual punches in his last fight? Those knockdowns against Cunningham and Pajkic?
He can be assured that punches will be coming his way with bad intentions from Joshua, and I don't buy the idea one bit that Fury is suddenly just too canny to get hit with them.

Fury wont be champion in 18 months if he fights Wilder. Joshua was in his first real test and found out he needs to improve on his defence. He needs some tough fights like that to learn. Maybe if he gets to 18 - 0 he will be ready for a World Title shot. I cant see David Haye beating Joshua with a tighter defence.

Fury doesn't have a perfect record as far as I am concerned, he was beaten by John McD in their first fight.

Me either. Pulling off the tactics he did against a 40 year old Wlad is impressive, but Wlad was never a natural fighter, but rather someone who came up with a set of tactics which made him very hard to beat, and which utlitised his height and reach advantages, both of which disappeared against Fury.
The same tactics aren't going to work against Joshua. I'm not saying Fury won't or can't win, but he'd have to fight differently.

Joshua's just struggled to get past a raw novice and Fury has just beaten the undisputed HW champion who hasn't been beaten in over a decade. Fury would / will outbox Joshua easily and force a mid-late rounds stoppage.

Guess you never the fury klitschko fight then? Cause AJ vs Whyte had more action in the first minute than that fight had in the 12 rounds so if i was fury id be shittin my pants thinkin "how the fvck can i escape either of these two? They arnt gun shy like klitschko". Fury isnt all that and the rematch will prove it.

I've always thought Joshua would beat Fury & I haven't changed my mind. Not sure Wlad will show anything different in the rematch though - he just doesn't have the heart to force a fight.

On that performance Fury has nothing to be worried about and should welcome a fight with Joshua sooner. Suspect chin, stiff feet, no head movement, no jab, stamina problems. Fury and Klitschko would've had a field day. Fury picking him off and counter punching and Klitsckho jabbing and the straight right (if he still has that shot) and most world class heavyweights would've finished him off when he was wobbled.
That being said look at Fury a few years ago. He has come on a heck of a lot whether you like his style or not. Joshua can work on a lot of his flaws over the next few fights but I'm not sure how far I'd go with the current trainer tbh. All well against lower ranked fighters having the power, hand speed and combos but that alone won't win at the top.
I'm not a fan of Joshua mainly because of the Sky Sports hype and would love to see Hearn's biggest asset crash and burn (bitter i know) but if he takes his time, works on his foot movement, head movement, stamina and getting a jab, Hearn chooses good learning fights rather than more round 1-3 KO's then I can't see him not being a World Champion in 2017.

Bang on. I think Joshua would prove to be a relatively easy nights work for Fury. Joshua is slow and stiff, he'd barely lay a glove on Fury. Fury would move and pop Joshua's head off.
I actually think Haye would be a more difficult opponent for Fury, Haye is faster, smaller and nippier and could maybe get on the inside and he has the power to trouble most people. If he couldn't get to Wladimir though I'm not sure he'd get to Fury either.

Good chance wilder won't have his WBC belt in 6 months.

why are people comparing them as a fury of now against a Joshua of now???
fury made his debut in 2008 in the pro game, won the british title 3years later in 2011 v an untested but limited fighter in chisora but then took 4years to get his world title shot, in the years in between he was knocked down by Cunningham and pajkic but rose to win.
Joshua only started boxing amateur in 2007, turned pro in 2013. so he has along way to go before he is on the level that fury is.
Joshua needs tests and he got through one Saturday by facing someone he genuinely dislikes, he will take that he fought too emotionally

Joshua now or Joshua 2018 - neither of them beats Fury. Stylistically Fury is a nightmare for AJ.
Fury will face his biggest tests when he's in with smaller, quick, explosive guys with fast hands and good upper body movement. Joshua will never have those qualities, he is stylistically perfect for Fury.

Because Fury is such a defensive riddle to solve isn't he?

One performance bobbing and weaving against a Bodymax bag and he's Willie Pep!
It'll be interesting to see how many more 'learning fights' Joshua will have before people come to understand the scale of the beating he would put on Fury, and how much better he actually needs to get.

Omg i cant believe what im reading here, your talking as if fury has defensive skills like mayweather or something. I know joshua got caught with a good shot and wobbled abit but hasnt that happened to fury against cruiserweights and some american heavyweight iv never heard of? Fury won the most boring championship fight i think iv ever seen, ther wer rounds in that fight were no one hit eachother, for three minutes no one layed a glove on eachother? Fury isnt all this and that u watch in the rematch or if he fights deontay. I just cant believe some of the shite im hearing on here, next time i come on this post im bringing big roll to wipe the sh1t from some peoples mouths. Joshua wouldnt lay a glove on the defensive mastermind tyson fury hahaha
