Was Ray Mancini an Italian? I presume he must have been.....if not Italian-American. I only know that he was supposed to be very good and nothing else.
I mention him because I struggle to equate Italians with being tough....and Spanish. But now and then they throw ul a boxer.
Robin Reid also went there and fought Vincenzo Nardiello, which he won.

If the internet was around back then Eubank's run of tedious, gifted wins against unheralded fighters would have led to him being vilified.

Anyway, look at the fighters neither of them faced -

Jones Jr
Toney
McCallum
Nunn
Kalambay
Hopkins (at a push)
Graham

There'd be plenty losses there.
Very true those guys would have likely beaten them both.

It was a golden era for 160-168 was the post hagler- srl shakeup between 1987-1991. But the trinity ......of the fighters personal charisma/the wbo/ and barry hearns promoting .....managed to convince the uk itv audiences these two were the cream of the crop. They werent.....yes they were huge draws but not the cream of the crop.but it didnt matter.

Ultimately benn ended up by 1995 with a lot of those fighters mentioned falling off or retiring to having a right to claim to be one of the 3 best at 160-168.benn has a slightly stronger list of wins , barkley ,mclellan, dewitt, malinga, sims, nardiello, wharton. While eubanks has benn, watson, rocchigiani, holmes, and malinga.

Its possible they could have beaten say a Nunn or Graham or kalambay who for all their talent could be beaten. But they wouldn't beat the true elite of jones jnr ,hopkins and toney
