No, ward has an HBO contract. The fight is specified after what happened with Adonis before. It is 3 fight contract, but there is also the time provision because ward is so inactive. It's signed and locked as long as they both win.

As for sources. I have my own but I'm sure if you Google it Rafael and the more reliable bloggers know.

Nothing is signed and anyone can legally walk away from these fights right now. Now let's trickle in the fact that we have Andre Ward involved in one fight. He's about as reliable as a wet dream. Then you still have the weight issue hanging over the GGG/Canelo tilt even though Golden Boy Exec says it's at 160, nothing has been agreed to or signed.
In reality, the boxing schedule for 2016 is empty right now. No huge fights are penciled in and signed for. Not a pessimist but everything sucks. lol
Ward kovalev is signed, as long as neither loses Andre can't fight anyone else after July.
I wouldn't bet a rent check on Andre Ward showing up for anything these days if I were you. The guys fought once in like 3 years and most recently backed out of a 7 figure EASY fight on the Cotto/Canelo undercard claiming an injury but now admits that there was nothing wrong with him. If I'm Kovalev, I'm not signing any contract with Ward that doesn't have penalties or fines built into the verbiage for Ward to find a way to weasel out of.
Ward is quite the enigma these days and you have to wonder what he's hiding at this point. He can't blame the contractual issues anymore. I would be VERY surprised if these two ever get in the ring, never mind in 2016. No faith in Ward at this point. He'll find his way out of it.

My guess is they are hiding an injury that either will require a surgery that ends his days as a top level fighter or he has already had said surgery and he's waiting for the biggest available payday to cash out his career.

That's an interesting take but he didn't appear to be limited in that one fight against the cab driver several months ago. I don't think it's an injury and if it was an injury, he's had years to have the procedure and recoup. And, he's gone out of his way to call out GGG and Kovalev during the hiatus which is the worst puss move of them all.

Usually these long layoffs have to do with drug abuse. I have no inside information but I am basing my guess (and it is a guess) on fighters of the past who had long layoffs like Aaron Pryor and Gerry Cooney.

Top 2 on the list for me is ...
Kovalev v Ward
GGG v Canelo
