my guess is he wins two out of three in
an old style trilogy. it wouldn't be a beauty
contest and evander's "god wants this" thing
gives him a second wind late in the fight.

liston has more power, but holy has granite
under is nose. in all other departments sonny
has no edge and that would mean evander can
outlast him.
that's some beautiful poetry right there :TU:

would Holyfield's best weight be considered Cruiserweight or Heavyweight. i.e. would Holyfield be even in the same weight category as Liston, if he was at his peak? :-?

He looked at his absolute peak 88-92; so a mean 210lb weight.

I would pick Liston over the Holyfield of the first Bowe fight. I would pick Holyfield of the second Bowe fight over Liston.

This is a really attractive match-up where you could argue for either guy. All things considered, I would favour Liston over 3 fights. This one would not be decided with one fight.

holy was no one puncher wonder at heavy, but
he could take everyone's shot, including punchers
like foreman or tyson, so to me he was indeed a
legit heavy and not just a blown up cruiser.

at cruiser his ATG ranking is probably higher than
at heavy, but still, who of the heavy ATGs walks
through him? no one. he makes everyone work
for their money, including joe louis and ali.

evander holyfield is just an exceptional athlete
and for what it's worth he doesn't lose to muhammad
the way sonny did.
