Awful
Dan and Bizier were mandatory defences so they're the IBFs fault. Frankie Gavin was a voluntary I think so that's at Hearn's door. Can't really blame Kell for anything, he just wants Khan. Will be worth three questionable defences if that one finally gets made
Frankie Gavin soon went from the best thing since sliced bread to questionable and dodgy because Brook, the bigger and stronger and possibly better man got him out after 5 or 6 rounds.
I wonder if it had been closer would Gavin still be getting so easily dismissed.

Gavin was always seen as a flabby welter... hadn't he been beat by Bundu too ?

Been beat by Bundu, run close by Skeete (very close) and run close by Woodhouse. Everyone knew Gavin was falling miles short of his potential before facing Brook

Gavin was nowhere near the 'best thing since sliced bread'; the Brook fight was rightly ridiculed as soon as it was made.

Uh....no. Many people noted that Gavin was a weak opponent when the bout was made, which is no surprise given that he lost the only time he stepped beyond domestic level--to an EBU class 40 year old who was drubbed 107-120 by Keith Thurman--and had a close fight with Skeete that many felt he lost.
Maybe Brook can be excused from fighting Bizier and Dan due to their mandatory status (though do mandatories have to be made immediately? Were Dan and Bizier willing to step aside?), but when he had the chance to fight a voluntary it was a poor opponent as well.

Ya, I find it bizarre to suggest that people were over the moon about Gavin until he lost to Brook....not true at all.

IBF to blame a lot for this.
Jo Jo Dan at least beat Bizier and was a poor choice on paper but Brook did such a good job in him, he made Dan look worse than he actually is.
Gavin is a European level fighter for me.
Bizier is just a embarrassment to the IBF.

When the hell was Frankie gavin since as the best thing since sliced bread? He lost and was knocked down by a 40 yr old Bundu and only just scraped a win against Curtis Woodhouse.

Fairness in boxing? They are the least corrupt governing body out of the lot!

IBF piss me off,and its true their prob the best but the others are a shambles TBF,the Gavin was fight was a keep busy fight for Brook because of the inactivity but for whatever reason the Chaves fight fell through and these 2 mandatories that the IBF keep throwing up are getting worse, whose next after Bizier,Freddie Lawson??

I know but that was the plan initially, the Gavin fight was only 2 months after the Dan fight(i think) then obviously he was scheduled to fight Chaves, actually didnt the Chaves fight change dates before being scrapped alltogether?
I cant remember either way i dont think this was the plan anyway to be out so long then have a mandate so soon

...and after Chaves pulled out plan B was to waste time calling Khan out rather than trying to keep active with a B level name? Kamegai,Gomez,Collazo, Bundu....

Bad luck, bad management, both?
Probably both, but ultimate blame has to lie with Brook. His career stagnated for years, finally looked like it would kick off properly after the Porter win, then stagnated straight away again. He can't be particularly ambitious, or he'd be demanding big fights against big names - I'm sure Thurman would love to fight him, so it's not like it would be particularly difficult to setup.

Aren't the splits with IBF 90/10 or something crazy ?
If so, no Spence Jnr

On here they were saying that Brook was going to bottle a fight with the absolute beast Shawn Porter. After Brook beat him it was decided that Porter wasn't that good.
Now a poster who joined the forum on Christmas Day claims he's going to bottle Errol Spence.

No they're not. They make too many eliminators with poor challengers and then effectively given them power over their champion. Hence Glazkov could refuse a negotiation period with Fury and force him to vacate. Glazkov drew with Malik Scott and got his mandatory position with a debatable points decision over Steve Cunningham, He now fights Charles Martin for the vacant title and Martin's best win is over Tom Dallas. A joke of an organisation.

If Brook wishes to retain the IBF title, then he must fight these bums.
Kevin Bizier is probably no better or worse than the likes of Tocker Pudwill & Rick Thornberry at Joe's same sort of period when he picked up the WBO.
Looking over the 147 division, there was Garcia whom had just moved up and everyone else vying for the Pacquiao gig. I make no apologies saying it's a crummy opponent, but it is what it is.
It could be worse - he could have fought nobody at all like Khan has lately.

I am reminded of a quote from the film
Lincoln.
Abraham Lincoln:
"A compass, I learned when I was surveying, it'll... it'll point you True North from where you're standing, but it's got no advice about the swamps and deserts and chasms that you'll encounter along the way. If in pursuit of your destination, you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles, and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp... What's the use of knowing True North?"
Whilst admittedly Lincoln was using this as an analogy for repealing slavery, it is just as suited to Kell Brook's title reign. If retaining the IBF title gets Brook no closer to the big name/big money fights, what's the use of retaining it?

He's putting all his eggs in the Khan basket, which is foolish. For one, Khan might not take the fight and continue to fight in the US, or secondly, he gets the fight and gets handily beaten in which case his title reign looks like an absolute joke and his future earning power completely evaporates.
Both of the above scenarios could easily happen. I was neutral as to who I wanted to win out of Khan and Brook, but Brook's opponents have made me Team Khan in a big way now. I hope he gets pasted (if the fight actually happens).
