The reasoning from GGG is simple and what he's said time and time again all along, his goal is to unify the belts and be the undisputed Middleweight Champion of the world. He just wants them all and the ONLY fight that he would consider outside of those specific goals is a SUPERFIGHT. GGG is no fool and he's like the rest of the world, he would drop everything for a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. To me, that's completely understandable and should be plain to see unless you have an agenda and are just looking for a way to slight GGG for some odd reason like most Floyd fans have been doing.

But don't use this Lara garbage. He is not even close to being in one of these category's to warrant a fight with GGG. Of course he's going to cry and call out GGG because what else is he going to do. No one wants to fight him and have to deal with horrible numbers and low purse to do it. GGG can make more money fighting anyone else. In my book, you don't reward a runner with a payday. Lara needs to start all over if we wants to build a fanbase because he lost thousands during that fiasco with Canelo where we all lost money on a horrible performance.

the love some people here have for lara is unexplainable. the reason why

All I know is every time folks mention Lara, lil g magically is focused and wanting to concentrate on unifying belts; or it is a question of Lara not being able to bring money in; or it is about Lara not being a challenge...

...as if Willie the worm was a challenge, as if Lara wouldn't garner more attention than any fight he has ever had, as if a guy involved in a 300K PPV is going to be detrimental to one who headlined a 100K PPV.

I agree that none of GGG's comp outside of Lemieux will or has brought any real big money to the table and therefore by that alone he should face Lara who is a more well known commodity than Monroe or just about anyone else he's faced was.

I think Lara is a challenge, however i think he showed much vulnerability when he faced El Perro, he was knocked down and hurt badly and if a slower, methodical Prodder like El Perro can corner him or keep him penned against the ropes then one could only imagine what a faster, better puncher, better at cutting off the ring and faster and bigger fighter like Triple G would do to him.

You have to consider all things but I do agree that there seem to be a lot of excuses why GGG should not face him.

Sometimes, I think I am one of only a handful of posters here who actually want to see Golovkin be great.

Oh sure, they like seeing him win.

But they make all kinds of excuses for Golovkin whenever someone suggests he take on a difficult opponent.

Just like Golovkin himself does.

And it is going to be the thing that screws him up if he keeps this up.

Sooner or later, he must step into the ring against a guy that no one is sure he win beat.

Then win. That is what great ones do.

He beats Lara, and does it better than Canelo, who will deny his elite status?

He goes up to 168 and fights for a belt against DeGale and wins (or even performs well in a loss) who can doubt him?

I want lil g to challenge himself.

And if that means going down to 155 to scramble Canelo's dome, he should do it.

As some have argued, it might be Golovkin better served by that catchweight anyway.

I am sick and tired of a guy who shows all the signs of being one of the best ever NEVER coming close to proving it.

And as a fight fan I fully understand your frustration with this guy, he's getting fanfare that he actually hasn't truly earned for the level of which he is being talked about and praised for (some will construe that as a hateful statement).

I too, want to see him prove his greatness. He is a very likable kid, can punch his @$$ off and seems relentless in his attack (almost Tito Trinidad-like), so it's hard not to like his personality because he comes off as a really nice guy.

Nice is one thing out of the ring and that's ok but we just want him to prove his Warrior Spirit against the very best in the ring, it is partially the fault of others that he hasn't been able to mix it up with them but at the same time we cannot give him a pass on those who are willing to fight him.

He cannot for the lack of a quality opponent at 160 sit there and say no one wants to fight him while beating the nobodies of the divisions when there are fighters with pedigree and a name waiting for him at 68 and 55 (if he goes there for Canelo and maybe even Lara).

Honestly I'm willing to give him a pass if he fights down to Canelo or Lara's weight class and I won't say he picked on smaller men as long as he has better named opponents on his resume. I'm just hoping he sees what Wilder is doing in taking on guys who outweigh him by as much as 24-31lbs and yet he makes no excuses and is basically fighting the same skill level or grade of fighters (C or B) level that GGG is facing but he's knocking them out (not always very technical or skillful) but he's getting the job done.

And if Wilder can fight guys that outweigh him by that much GGG should be able to face guys who outweigh him by 8lbs maybe even move to LHW (seeing he comes in on FN at 170 anyway) and take on the Krusher or BB types, win, lose or draw he'd have better names on his resume and if he wins he'd be questioned no more and be the true fighter we believe him to be.

He's damn near perfect. In spite of the language which incidently gets better every fight.

He is classy, has a clean image, and his sense of humor and showmanship is undeniable.

He just wont fight anyone!

Yeah, some have swerved him, no doubt.

But for every guy who avoided him (and that number is not very high as some think),
you can name one and sometimes more who want him and are as good or better than
the fighter who allegedly doesn't want it.

I kinda agree with the Wilder take.

Heavys dont moan over 5 lbs. And neither should a guy who rose to fame saying
he could whip ass across several weight classes.

He needs to prove that.
