Korobov is sellable in what way nobody cares about about his amateur record.Re-up Gang wrote:uzcategui fighting de gale
heiland a good option but not known in the US
korobov has amateur win against gig need to verify that but he was 2 time am world champ so very sellable also they want to cash out.
embank jr could be viable also.
there is derychenko, khrtov, magomedov, antoine douglas.
all too green but could still get a shot

This fight is a lot better than you guys think. Korobov is a good fighter. I think he's the only one in the division that gives Golovkin trouble. People saying Andy Lee are crazy. Yeah, he KO'd Korobov, but he was also losing the fight. Lee goes on to draw with Quillin who was KO-1'd against Jacobs.
Also, anyone saying Lara is even more crazy. Lara offers NOTHING to trouble Golovkin. Zero contest right there.

He's got manager/promoter difficulties keeping him out of the ring apparently.crusader wrote:Michael Soro? He won the EBU middleweight title about 6 months ago, knocked out Glen Tapia in the US, and doesn't have anything scheduled. His only loss was controversial and to my knowledge he hasn't shown durability problems.
Far from a big name but in my opinion a credible opponent in the circumstances.
He was due to fight Smith at light middle for the vacant title last year.

I honestly don't hate this fight as much as most seem to. Yes he lost to Lee but he was winning easily before he got caught. While a loss is a loss, I really think korobov is a better fighter than lee and would probably give ggg more trouble between the two. I am not excited by it but it isn't horrible all things considered.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Matvey Korobov
Korobov is a good fighter. People writing him off just because he lost to Lee is stupid.
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Matvey Korobov
Korobov might be able to hang in there with GGG by boxing him, but eventually GGG will land on Korobov. I think TKO 8.

Not writing off but he doesn't deserve it and why not give the Lee the shot then.Maxime wrote:Korobov is a good fighter. People writing him off just because he lost to Lee is stupid.

Korobov isn't a high quality opponent by any stretch of the imagination. I'd rather see a rematch with Lemieux
However, I wouldn't be too upset with this fight, or any lesser fighter for the matter, as long as he faces Canelo in the fall. I seem to be more optimistic about that fight happening than others, considering the two of them have no other high profile fighters wanting to fight them in the immediate future. Canelo has mostly cleaned out the junior middleweight division and while there are good fighters there he has not faced (Williams, Andrade, the Charlo brothers), there aren't any big fights or big money draws. The same is true for GGG, perhaps even more so. Cotto doesn't want to be in the same city as Golovkin, and Saunders priced himself out of a unification fight, plus Jacobs and Quillin are AH fighters.
Golovkin and Canelo need each other, and this fight will happen at some point if not this year. In the meantime, it doesn't matter who they face UNLESS they don't face each other.

Wade is a decent opponent on paper, sadly the reality is that he didn't really deserve the win over Soliman and GGG will absolutely crush him.

Wade needed 3 US judges and home turf to get what most saw as an undeserved win against Soliman.
GGG by obliteration.

Korobov was beating Lee and got caught by a big punch.
I wouldn't use that fight to judge his abilities.
If they fought again, I'd bet Korobov.
... but GGG be KO'ing everybody.
I'd prefer Lara to this fight.
