Re: Chisora Warnings for Joshua!

War Del
I thought he was buzzed by Pala in the second and by Gerber in the fourth, though he never looked to be in serious trouble and in each case won by stoppage the next round. He doesn't really strike me as someone who is chinny, even if he doesn't take a shot as good as he used to...his lack of defense at a fairly low level was more worrying, though perhaps it was down to him not taking those opponents seriously enough.tobyh5 wrote:How many times has he touched down since then? Odd statement which does not seem related to reality. His effort and motivation is awful but no chin issues that I can see
Eddie Hearn has also ruled Chisora out. He's an odd one, doesn't want to fight AJ because he "doesn't have anything I want" but is chasing Pulev in Hungary?jamiem26 wrote:Just seen Derek's IFL interview from last night.
Said he doesn't want the Joshua fight and that Dillian Whyte is a mug who can "suck a dick"...

How long do you think Chisora lasts? I think he lasts 4/5 rounds max.crusader wrote:I thought he was buzzed by Pala in the second and by Gerber in the fourth, though he never looked to be in serious trouble and in each case won by stoppage the next round. I'd rather see Whyte-Chisora but Joshua-Chisora isn't the dreadful match some are depicting it as.

I agree he's just looked a little more vulnerable since the Haye fight. However, I liked his more urgent and aggressive style last time out. Looked a bit sharper and more motivated.crusader wrote:I thought he was buzzed by Pala in the second and by Gerber in the fourth, though he never looked to be in serious trouble and in each case won by stoppage the next round. I just not seeing it chaps, not a chin issue but a lack of desire allowing him to be caught easier as less sharpDixonian wrote:I agree he's just looked a little more vulnerable since the Haye fight. That might be true, but think that would mainly be a product of Joshua's offenseive potency and I'd imagine that few could go longer against him. If I was looking to give him rounds I would chose someone like Duhaupas over Chisora, but obviously that doesn't have the same appeal domestically.lefty wrote:How long do you think Chisora lasts? Helenius has looked mediocre for a while. The injuries seemed to have impaired his power and without a big punch he doesn't have a whole lot to fall back on.Bodyshot3 wrote:Can't help thinking that Chisora should really be angling for a pot-shot at Helenius as there are all sorts of positive things to go for....
- fix a deeply dodgy first result
- get the European belt and the ranking
- earn some dough with a smash and grab in Helsinki
Helenius has not exactly been ripping-up trees since he has come back and Graham Houston thought he looked laboured/down on power beating the novice Rill in a kind of gimme fight.
I think Del would be up for Helenius - there's an injustice to be resolved - and this is the right time to take the bloke on.

He does seem to have a good chin though and perhaps he's one to look at if AJ's team wants to get him rounds.
Not happening, Helenius doesn't want the fight as per the Sauerlands.Bodyshot3 wrote:AgreedHelenius has looked mediocre for a while. The injuries seemed to have impaired his power and without a big punch he doesn't have a whole lot to fall back on.

I think Helenius v Joshua would be a very sound test for AJ and a more than decent European title fight.
You could make it meaningful for AJ by by having him travelling to Helsinki as well; give him the challenge of an away fixture.
However, I am guessing that most of this is just speculation/wishing though.
The folk behind Helenius are not going to want any part of a hot prospect like AJ as they attempt rebuild their guy.
But a fight with Chisora; well, that seems feasible.
I like Chisora. The guy is brave and has fought the best when all odds were stacked against him. Vitali, Haye, Fury twice. You can forgive him for not wanting to get ironed out by Joshua unless he's well compensated.the_doctor wrote:Eddie Hearn has also ruled Chisora out. To be honest, it's also the fact that he couldnt even stop Nascimento which makes me think the fight would be a complete white wash. He doesnt have the power to stop Joshua, he hasnt got the boxing IQ and defence and he's a smaller man. Doesn't bode well for him.crusader wrote:That might be true, but think that would mainly be a product of Joshua's offenseive potency and I'd imagine that few could go longer against him. any particular reason mate? A Chisora fan or do you just not like Joshua?...... I got the impression he was pretty popular with most folks.littlepug wrote:Chisora reminds me of moorer abit who also suffered from a "when I can be arsed" attitude, so I think theres more to come from del boy, would love to see him flatten joshua

In response to the question "Is Chisora a good fit for a European title shot?" - (or however it was put)...... my first thought was that Audley Harrison was the beltholder. Also, this is heavyweight boxing and that means that "being suitable" - more than any other weight category - has never really mattered that much.
Chisora has been in with better opponents but that doesn't mean he's any better than Whyte, especially this version of Chisora which is nowhere near as fresh or ambitious as the version of Whyte that went in against AJ.Horse wrote:On paper Chisora is much better than anyone that Joshua has faced so far.Judah Ben Fur wrote:Im just totally sold on the notion that joshua is never going to be world cjampion and he will be long exposed before he reaches a fury, wilder, haye, povetkin level.
Chisora is exactly the kind of man who could do this, basically del is many many levels above a dillian whyte
He's not an opponent that should be taken lightly.
On paper Chisora is far better.johnswan1 wrote:Chisora has been in with better opponents but that doesn't mean he's any better than Whyte, especially this version of Chisora which is nowhere near as fresh or ambitious as the version of Whyte that went in against AJ.
