Canelo 5 9' and Khan 5 8 1/2'. Not much of a difference height wise but Canelo will be a lot heavier come fight night unless they have agreed another weigh in on the morning of the fight? Not sure how these things work tbh.littlepug wrote:will be interesting to see how khan looks with the extra weight, hes got got quite a big frame anyway and cant be any shorter than canelo

He wont face GGG after if he wins, big if. He'll dump the belt.Reece_D wrote:The only reason I want to see Amir win as he will then have to face GGG afterwards, what a brutal KO that would be.
As for the Canelo fight I can't see past a Canelo early-mid rounds KO. easy night.
Cotto or Pacquiao after maybe...
Re: Saul Alvarez (c) vs. Amir Khan - May 7th 2016
Of course he wouldn't. just like to see his response when he's contractually have to fight GGG after if he were to win.
Could see the Cotto bout happening after though.

Khan has a fractionally longer reach as well.Stuarty30 wrote:Canelo 5 9' and Khan 5 8 1/2'. What makes this fight so intriguing for me is why Khan has taken it. He hasn't fought for a title at WW, yet he is about to go up against one of the top P4P fighters in the World at a pound above LMW. Khan has always looked very big physically, and remains a big looking WW, but I just wonder on fight night if Alvarez is going to look huge. You can't imagine Khan coming into the fight dramatically above 155, whereas Alvarez will probably be 165+.
I give Khan a lot of credit for taking the fight. I am annoyed that he has relentlessly chased a big fight in the past, but he finally has it. If he puts in a very creditable decision, then it will certainly put him back on the map. If he won.....however unlikely.............there is no way he will remain at MW.

oh, 10st 6lbs = 146lbs, by the way.

If Khan wins, he vacates and drops back down to welter and asks for an 85/15 split at wembly against brook.
There is no set of circumstamces I can see where Khan defends a MW title against GGG. Absolutely none.
I think if Allah and Mohamad both asked him to sign the deal for that fight he'd convert.

Enjoy that it's one in the eye for Hearn/Brook. "There's no bigger fight out there for him, he'll get lowdsamaaaney".... Aye alright.
Camp Eddie must have sprayed his morning corn flakes all over the kitchen walls when he got this news.
And the 80/20 patter was all just a hee haw at their expence knowing he potentially had this in the bag.
Khan has brightened my day no end
Re: Saul Alvarez (c) vs. Amir Khan - May 7th 2016
I can see it now, Khan beats Canelo, then fights a unification fight with Saunders at a football stadium.
Brook vacates, and moves up to middleweight to fight Khan in Khan's voluntary. Khan wins on points, then beats James DeGale for the super middleweight strap.
khan takes a few weeks off, eats a few burgers and ice cream on the beach, and then announces a deal has been struck to challenge Tyson Fury for the heavyweight title.

He should never have to fight GGG, this fight is more than enough to prove he's got the balls to get in with the best. I've been critical of him at times but he gets ultimate respect for this fight, he's like Fury, willing to go overseas and take on the best.davie wrote:Lets not get crazy here.Reece_D wrote:The only reason I want to see Amir win as he will then have to face GGG afterwards, what a brutal KO that would be.

I'm having a hard time seeing how Khan loses!! Canelo will look like he's walking through mud compared to Khans speed. If he thought Mayweather had quick hands and feet. And most of the times Khan has been hurt it's been by counter punches. I don't see canelo throwing counters like Garcia was, it's not his game. And I don't see him fast enough to land on Khan with lead punches. What's stopping Khan from peppering him and running all night? Canelo looked SLLOOOW against Floyd. Granted if canelo lands cleanly with a good shot we will hopefully see footage of Amir successfully undergoing rehab and released from hospital with no ill effects. I just don't see canelo having the speed to catch Khan. He doesn't even throw a jab that much does he?
Re: Saul Alvarez (c) vs. Amir Khan - May 7th 2016
I'm struggling to see how this fight is sanctionable as a world title....just how Khan qualifies for a world middleweight ranking. He hasn't won a world title at welter yet.

The reality is even 'if' Amir could by some miracle do all the things you think he can, just remember that he's not gonna be able to pull any strings in this fight.TheLeprechaun wrote:I'm having a hard time seeing how Khan loses!! Canelo will want a smaller ring and whilst Amir has quick hands, his balance/footwork is nothing like Floyds nor has he got Floyds brain.
The WBC love their fellow Mexican champions, given this fight is cinco de mayo weekend, I can't see Khan getting anything other than the shaft on the scorecards.

The talk of Khan trying to follow the Mayweather blueprint is pretty daft to be honest. Khan is quick, no doubt about it but his problem is the way he moves backwards. Straight lines, chin out and popping back in at the same tempo. He might look good for a couple of rounds but Canelo will start to measure Khan's tempo and rhythm in the same way Garcia did and take complete control.
The ones who cause Canelo trouble are the ones who are difficult to hit. Khan isn't hard to hit which is why he is an exciting fighter to watch

People seem to think because Khan has fast hands that he's this master boxer. He gets hit regularly.freddydoesdallas wrote:The talk of Khan trying to follow the Mayweather blueprint is pretty daft to be honest. What? I can't understand any British person not wanting Amir to win this fight. He's got massive cajones (unlike Kell Brook) and we should be proud of the fact he's willing to put it on the line.Reece_D wrote:The only reason I want to see Amir win as he will then have to face GGG afterwards, what a brutal KO that would be.

I don't think I've ever wanted to see a fighter win so much since Hatton fought Mayweather.

Canelo will stop him, he is going to be way bigger than Khan come fight time. If he gives Khan the space, Khan could be a nuisance but Canelo as champ should request a smaller ring.
Re: Saul Alvarez (c) vs. Amir Khan - May 7th 2016
Just watched the news flash on TV now, about fell of my chair!
I cannot see Khan going 12 with Alvarez, bad move IMO.

Its a great move for Khan - his career is stalling. He is going to make mega bucks and he has absolutely NOTHING to lose.
I do not think a first round blow out isn't going to affect him much. Khan vs Brook will always be a massive fight.

Re: Saul Alvarez (c) vs. Amir Khan - May 7th 2016
Full credit to Khan for taking this challenge but I just don't see how he wins. Yes he's quick but he isn't hard to hit and he gets marked up. Alvarez doesn't have fast feet but he does have fast hands and really puts shots together well. I think this is a painful night for Amir.
No way should Alvarez be picking on a welterweight and it's a disgrace the way him & Cotto are able to put stipulations on weight - if they were able to fight for the title at the weight then the opponent should be able to fight at the weight limit, end of.

Winning is unimportant. Unless he gets seriously injured or worse, which is extremely unlikely, I can't see a downside for Khan; win, lose or draw.
Re: Saul Alvarez (c) vs. Amir Khan - May 7th 2016
He's has got huge balls for taking this fight and I give him maximum respect for doing so. I don't see Khan as fan favourite though after the endless chasing he has done in the last couple of years. Yes he wants to big fights as should everyone but don't fight once a year in trying to do this!Happy Slapper wrote:What? I can't understand any British person not wanting Amir to win this fight. As for Golovkin he's my favourite fighter, being British or not I always want to see him win with his destructive style. just because he's British doesn't mean I have to support him. 'IF' Prince Patel was in a position like this one day I would still wouldn't support him just because he's British.
