1987 was a strange time in camachos career, I just noticed though, Carlos. Only fought once that year.

Could have been over indulging his recreational habits? May have been a good time to get him.

Maybe, I remember that fight with Kamenda though and Kamenda managed to cut him but then ignore it and attack the body. If
that had been Camacho in there, it wouldn't have seen the fifth.

I imagine Camacho with his handspeed cutting Marsh to ribbons, but as you said, he was on the way down and how knows how
it could have gone down if they actually fought. It would have been the best fighter Marsh had fought until then but he would have
gave it a good go.

I think it was the Kameda fight, when at the press conference Marsh had heard Kameda was struggling with the weight, so Terry sat there drinking from a bottle of water all the time, Kameda cracked and left the conference as he couldn't have any.

Joe Manley who Marsh beat for the title was part of the Olympic team that never was after the USA boycotted the Moscow Olympics, for some reason that team was full of guys that either never achieved or just plain lucked out. Robert Shannon, Richie Sandoval, Jackie Beard, Bernard Taylor, Joe Manley, Johnny Bumphus, Donald Curry, James Shuler, Charles Carter, Lee Roy Murphy and James Broad.
Seems almost like a cursed team in hindsight

Wow, I just rewatched the Manley fight for the first time. I was only 11 but I'm surprised I didn't remember it better, cracking performance by marsh

Stylistically he reminds me a little of Brian Mitchell

Marsh,who wasn't known for his big punches cracked Manley with some great left hooks to put him down for the first time,Manley was a decent fighter too.

Yeah, he got that elbow nice and high and cracked Manley on the temple with the left hook, was the one that started it, then 'BANG ON THE CHEN' with another hook and a right hand on the way down for good luck. He'd had good success with the left hook for 3 or 4 rounds before the finish.

His book is a good read,I know he was a right hand full when on remand, over the shooting.

Doesn't he just! Watched it the other day, the boy he was against wasn't terrible either. Terry still knows what he's doing in the ring he hardly took a shot.

Marsh himself says he never knocked anyone out in his career, amateur or pro. He got tko's but no 1 punch KO

I don't think that fight was ever signed for was it? Going by the Marsh biography he said Camacho got in the ring after the Kameda fight and started playing tug o war with the belt but nothing ever materialised.

You may be right on that,it was a long time ago,great night though on ITV .

Camacho was a league above Terry.

I got his autobiography and its a good read.

I remember his fight with Manley. It was in Basildon.

It is a good read and we'll worth having a look at. I can remember the Kameda bout, Terry let Akio smack him in the ribs 4 or 5 times, he was asked about it afterwards and said, 'Of course it hurt but I wasn't going to let him know'. He'd done it to gain an edge psychologically.
