I only came here to say "Finally getting a haircut", but now such ribaldry is redundant.

I apologize for this thread. Never would have done it if I had known this would be the answer.
Big announcement? Really? I have a big announcement too. I'm going to go make myself another cup of fooking coffee.

Don't worry I wasn't aiming it towards you, I just think how can Helenius say this is a big announcement.Tony1244 wrote:fightfan95 wrote:What a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that would be if it is Duhaupas![]()

I would rather watch you make a coffee than this 'BIG' fight

No problem. They say you learn something new everyday and today I learned that Robert Helenius is full of crap.fightfan95 wrote:Don't worry I wasn't aiming it towards you, I just think how can Helenius say this is a big announcement.Tony1244 wrote:fightfan95 wrote:What a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that would be if it is Duhaupas![]()

Ducking ranked Chisora and forfeiting European title to "fight" unranked Duhaupas is pretty much the same thing as gender reassignment, so I give "Taki" full credit for the correct answer.
Helenius says he wants a shot at a HW title, but Chisora is ranked by 2 alphabets and Duhaupas is unranked.
Re: Helenius' Big Announcement Monday is:
A decent challenge with the Frenchman. Given Robert's layoff it is a good move before taking on the elites.

He is not "ducking" Chisora. The Chisora fight would have been a defense of Robert's EBU title, no major rankings on the line as Chisora's highest ranking is 13th (right behind Helenius), hardly anything to write home about. Chisora also fights for Suaerland, who screwed and derailed Helenius career for years.
The fight against Duhaupas is for the WBC Silver belt, which Povetkin is dropping to fight for the full title. A win over Duhapaus makes Helenius the mandatory for Wilder.
Remind me again why defending his EBU title against fat, sloppy Del Boy would be a better way to land a title shot?

Re: Helenius' Big Announcement Monday is:
So Helenius is taking Wilder's "Bum Squad" route to maintaining an undefeated record.
Re: Helenius' Big Announcement Monday is:
1) Chisora deserved the decision against Helenius. I don't think anyone honest disputes that. Injury notwithstanding.punchoutsb wrote:Come on man...Tony1244 wrote:Ducking ranked Chisora and forfeiting European title to "fight" unranked Duhaupas is pretty much the same thing as gender reassignment, so I give "Taki" full credit for the correct answer.Taki... wrote:Gender reassignment.![]()

2) Chisora is ranked by 2 of the corrupt organizations. Duhaupas is presently unranked.
3) Frankly, I don't think Chisora would have been a "big announcement" either.
A big announcement would have been Martin, Joshua, or Haye.

1) Yes. But you can't discount the injury; it played a major role.Tony1244 wrote:

2) So? This fight is to become mandatory to Wilder. a win over fat Del Boy gets...what?
3) It would have been less of a "big announcement" than this because it's simply a defense of the EBU title. The winner of this match is directly in line for a title shot.
As far as fans are concerned, any of the three you listed in your last sentence would have been a bigger fight. As far as Helenius career is concerned, this fight puts him in line for a title shot. The only one bigger than that would have been Martin for his IBF trinket, but I seriously doubt they're looking for someone like Helenius for his first defense.
Re: Helenius' Big Announcement Monday is:
Well it got Wilder a major belt so nothing wrong with Helenius using the same strat..Freedom2013 wrote:So Helenius is taking Wilder's "Bum Squad" route to maintaining an undefeated record.

2) Fair enough. Helenius should do what's right by him. I was merely complaining about the "big" announcement tease.
3) IF Wilder fights and beats Povetkin, Deontay may be looking at the winner of Fury-Wlad 2, or Martin. Who knows if he'd wait around for Helenius.
Re: Helenius' Big Announcement Monday is:
Helenius has looked mediocre in his last few matches. If Duhaupas is really up for this and doesn't slip into journeyman mode I wouldn't be surprised if he got the better of things, though actually winning is another matter.
And okay, maybe a bit underwhelming given the big announcement talk, but this is a solid fight.

Re: Helenius' Big Announcement Monday is:
Of course its a a big announcement and a major step up. After 4 years of hiatus Nordic Nightmare takes on a French Reptile that recently lost the world championship challenge against the undefeated American Bronze Bomber. Eleven rounds of a world title fight where Duha showed great chin, heart and complete luck of boxing skills.
Helen has a punch and Duha has a chin. Neither of them can box. Its a tossup.

That's his strategy. Beat the bums Wilder gave title shots. If Helenius does it more impressively, he's got some momentum.Freedom2013 wrote:So Helenius is taking Wilder's "Bum Squad" route to maintaining an undefeated record.
Helenius would be Wilder's best title opponent.
Re: Helenius' Big Announcement Monday is:
How on earth can his be for the Silver title ?

By far and he's still pretty poor himself.
Re: Helenius' Big Announcement Monday is:
I personally think Helenius - Duhaupus would be a relatively even match-up. Helenius injured his shoulder against Chisora, then damaged his larynx in sparring, and his matchmaking in the past 4 years suggests that his handlers don't perceive him as being 100% of what he used to be. Duhaupus also seemed super durable and relatively decent against Wilder. So yeah, I think it's a respectable 55/45 or 60/40 match-up, and I hope the winner looks for interesting match-ups against someone like Glazkov, Szpilka, Stiverne, Browne, Breazeale, Cunningham, or Chagaev.

its only going to be relevant if Helenius can knock the durable Duhaupas out impressively.
but its been long time since we saw any kind of power from Helenius's punches
