Who are Hughie's best three opponents?

Keep in mind when rating Rudenko that Julius Long also gave Browne problems.

McDermott would probably be his best win. The only win that that could be considered better is Rudenko.

I wish his team would stop talking such utter tosh about him. The absurd overhype might make me start to wish him failure.

I don't think Hughie has beaten stronger opposition than Martin (even w/o considering Glazkov), Browne (not seeing this since Browne also beat Rudenko), or Parker (since you mentioned on another thread that you think Hughie's opposition is stronger than JP's); what makes you think otherwise?

I believe it's fair to say that his top 5 opponents are Rudenko, George Arias, Danny Hughes (a struggle), and then maybe Ivica Perkovic and Dorian Darch? Even in today's HW division I don't think this puts him anywhere close to being past EBU level.

That's my point, mate. We could discuss little nuances about whether this trial horse is better than that trial horse but Hughie has fought at around a similar opposition to both Charles & Lucas - neither of whom I would call world class.

I like Browne & wish him the very best of luck against Chagaev and I loved Martins post fight interview after Gloazkov when thought the tv bloke was giving him a hard time over something not his fault.

As for who is world class..... the only ones I'd really say were world class would be Klitschko, Fury & Povotkin with Wilder a level below. But someone else may say The Top 15 but whose top 15?

As for Hughie, no need for him to be rushed. He truly has time on his side. Just keep stepping up and testing the lad.

Ultimately, Fedosov means nothing really. He might be better, but McDermott is a name fighter with a title.

Fedosov is an incredibly boring opponent as far as I'm concerned.

McDermott is a much, much better opponent. Get that English title!

I heard Carlos Takam was in frame.

Mind you heard Haye was looking at him as an option too, allegedly.

Wow can't believe the lad is still only 21 years old. He's doing brilliant: I think he could beat some fringe contenders and Fedesov is a good fight for him at this stage. He needs competitive fights but should stay away from the genuine top 20 for a bit I'd say.

Look like they are chasing a fight with Martin. Don't blame them as he's pretty woeful. He looks like he's punching through water or something....

I would say that Scott is a bit much at this point, but overall a good list.

I remember his début. I think he was 18. I've rarely seen a heavyweight so poised in his early career.

Of course, this doesn't mean he has the heart or toughness for the top level. But he definitely has the skill.

I see Hughie as one of the smartest boxers out there, but at the same time I must say that he doesn't have the perfect body. He isn't muscled, he isn't as tall as Tyson, he just knows how to achieve the absolute best results with his limits. I think he can reach the top 10-15, but not much higher as that. Or not without very selectively chosen opponends.

On the other side, his cousin proved me wrong as well, I never expected that weak twentacle guy to beat Klitschko. How wrong could I be.

Hughie is very good. He'll surprise a few people.

And considering his age, he can probably afford a few losses too. I think him and his team need to do what they're doing, and slowly work up the rankings. No need to jump top 20, or even top 30 for that matter. There's loads of top 50 boxers which he can learn his trade against. I for one will be intriguingly watching his progress.

However Peter Fury was calling out Martin. Not sure why they're so keen to jump for a world title? Maybe they want a family unification bout? Can imagine the media would get all over that!

Its a shame Hughie hasnt stepped up already like going the same route tyson went English,commonwealth,British etc.i think some off it because Joshua was going that route and fought it was to early.

I'm not saying he doesn't have potential, I just dont think he is nowhere as good as whet people think he is.....he needs to prove himself.
