Hatton-Kostya was mad all night. I think the Irish will do something similar later this month.

Froch/Groves 2 was more an overall party atmsophere (was pretty 50/50 split with Groves/Froch fans but all mixed in together) was more about the size and scale of the event for me that, was something special. On the subject of atmosphere gotta mention the 100 or so Terry Flannagan fans at the Civic Hall for the Ormond fight fairplay they were nuts!!

As for venues themselves maybe bias as its my home town but favourite definitely Wolverhampton Civic Hall its the right size to be big enough for a great atmsophere (and to get fights there that really could have gone to bigger venues) but with the balcony's has a great view from anywhere.

Also like the Tower Ballroom just for the old school feel to it, feels like your somewhere Del Boy would be going to watch cabaret.

Don't really like the bigger arena's but the smaller size arenas like the Echo and Nottingham are decent.
Good post. MEN is good for a large arena though. Froch Groves 1 was electric in parts. Can imagine those great Hatton nights were incredible.
Yeah few mates did a couple of Hatton fight there said it was quality, I've only been there once for boxing (Haye/Ruiz) and even that was pretty good atmosphere wise and with no real local connection or following for Ruiz. Going Frampton/Quigg there in a couple of weeks reckon that could well be different

Don't know what price range your looking for but they put some extra released ones on sale last week (£150-£500 seats) on ticketmaster usual fees like but not being sold above value.

I've always liked the MEN. I think the best atmosphere I've experienced there was one of the Naz fights or Haye/Ruiz. Hatton/Kostya was good too but it was on at some stupid time and there was way too much of a delay between fights...plus everyone was hammered. Froch/Groves too.

Bute was good at Nottingham, same with Pascal but it always works best when there's a large contingent of fans. I think Pascal only had about ten there.

I remember one of Jason Matthews' fights, against Darren Dorrington. Lively sets of fans, pretty easy to tell them apart too so no questioning who was supporting who.

Froch Groves 1 was electric because of the fight. Proper buzz when Froch got dropped in the first. I was hammered myself at Ricky-Kostya so yes, fair comment.

Think I've always enjoyed where I've watched boxing, worst probably Hamburg for Klitchko v Haye but that was probably as much because I was so drunk and wet from the down pour that I couldn't fully appreciate it.

Best in terms of views etc I've been to I guess would have to be the York Hall like someone said earlier its a cliche but there genuinely isn't a bad seat in the place. I enjoyed MSG Theatre too although I doubt its the best for atmosphere because the fans don't go right the way around the ring. For a slightly bigger event Nurnberg was also really good in the Ice Hockey Arena.

Atmosphere wise I enjoyed Haye v Valuev. Froch v Bute has been mentioned quite a few times, I thought it was a bit of an odd one. My memory may be playing tricks on me but it felt really subdued until the Romanian support arrived and really got going about 5-10mins before the ring walks then it was good, didn't think the British support really got going until the fight turned for Froch because up until that point like most fights the home support were too keen to sing about Nottingham (in this case) when a large amount of us weren't from there! Best though for me Frampton v Martinez 1. Was something special and a brilliant arena considering I was in the cheapest seats, like a mini o2.

York Hall isn't great behind the scenes.

Certainly negatives to York Hall, I meant purely from a viewing point of view. Key negatives are the bar area and the fact its that side of the water :D

I love the atmospheres at York Hall & Liverpool Olympia,

The Echo is probably the best arena not a bad seat in there!

The Excel was shocking for Chisora and Fury but I had a freeby on the front row so cant complain but the toilet/bar and trying to get a taxi after were abysmal ended up walking miles back to the hotel!

From a small-hall point of view, you can't beat these 4 on a good night....Walsall Town Hall, Plymouth Guildhall, Newport Centre and GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester. All fantastic atmospheres!!

Oh, forgot to add....Millennium Stadium with the roof closed. 52,000 people, all the welsh singing plus a choir. Amazing!

So, I am chuffed by the responses here. I notice that the old MEN arena is getting a lot of good press from the Hatton days. I can only imagine how great some of those nights were. Unfortunately I well never return there given the disgusting behaviour of the crowd around me and the missus. Racist chanting and then even threatening to kick the brown stuff out of both of us if khan won the fight. These people were clearly from Manchester area based on their accents and were not cheering on the Irish lad either. Just people out for a fight.

On the other side of that coin I was lucky enough to travel 6000 miles to watch the hitman take a beating in Vegas by the pacman. And the atmosphere was amazing. A couple of folks supporting Hatton started to boo pacmans anthem and were told in no uncertain terms to wind it up or leave the arena. Excellent stewarding. Though this opinion is biased slightly given that I got to shake Hattons hands the following night in the imperial palace nightclub. Looking back now I feel a bit guilty given that he probably just wanted to down his sorrows and have some peace, but instead for a sausage like me asking him for a picture

I boxed on the bill when burns beat Martinez for the title. I will say that was a fecking great atmosphere. The York hall Bethnall green was always great. I went on as the floater before haye ,Harrison with over 18000. The majority were boing my behaviour. What a buzz. Hahaha
