OMG! Finally a thread about Fury vs Wlad 2!

I hope it doesn't happen. It was the worst performance of ANY championship fight, in history. Fury is the worst, least skilled champion in history, imo. It just happens he is the tallest, and beat a pathetic aging champion that couldn't pull the trigger.

Lets just try to keep all that in perspective. Some of you dumb asses complain about Floyd or Rigo but not Wlad or Fury fights? fornicating retards.

He did, modern boxing takes time. I'm no wlad fan and I won't watch the rematch but he exercised his clause promptly.

This match has to be signed soon. The drop dead date for this fight was supposed to be July. And that was at the latest. It seems to be dragging on and I think Wlad had a hard time picking it back up after the first loss. He has a new baby and his wife is in depression. I really feel like he could pass on this. There is more to life than just boxing.

No. This is still on Wlad. Wlad got back in the gym but I am just wondering if he is having second thoughts. Lampley said this fight should have been signed by now and HBO expected this fight to take place at the end of June or early July at the latest. It seems it will all come together soon or something else has to happen.

...he's a professional..don't think the above reasons should and will be used as an excuse...

no, it's on them finding a venue and TV that generates the most money. Wlad exercised his option a couple days later and the money split is already done.

It would not be an excuse at all. Exactly my point. I could see him taking this fight and I could see him walking away.

He did and since that time I wonder if he has second thoughts. He may have got back in the gym and really not felt it and who knows what his wife is saying. She just had a baby and was so depressed she was at a clinic being treated for postpartum depression. I still see this happening at a little bit better than 50-50 but the timeline seems to be off right now.

i can hardly believe that a seasoned world champion
of any sports gets too much affected professionally
by his wife having postnatal depression. every other
man with a job can deal with that, so why should a
boxer not be able to do so.

no, if wlad does not enter the ring it has nothing to
do with his wife. if he wanted this he would do it. i
for one would be very disappointed if he hanged them
up like this. fury is not precisely a terrible threat and
wlad must dig deep and go out in style, even if he
looses.

but i am aware this is wishful thinking, just as it was
when i time and time again hoped he would win in a
less comfortable way. i thought that kubrev was a
display of courage and hoped this would be his late-
career-style. i was wrong, but i still hope he does not
want to leave the stage with the impression of the last
fury bout.

The longer this goes the worse chance Wlad has
I'd say potentially it could be to Wlad's advantage. Of the two, Fury is far more likely to let himself fall into bad habits and pile on the weight.

I hope not. Neither of them did much of nothing and it was probably the worse HW fight I've ever seen, a total borefest.

it was really weird and made wlad-haye
look like a slug fest.

even if you are a fan of wlad's, you must
concede that these two men fought their
by far most boring fights against ... him.

K2 have already started organising sparring partners for Wlad.
One of them that I know of is slightly taller than Fury, and although a relative novice still in the beginning stages of his career, has obviously been assigned to the sparring team because of his height, bulk, and reach.

That's good to hear. It needs to happen, no matter how painful it might be for some of you.

I didn't mind the first fight. Yes, it lacked action, but it was interesting how Fury kept WKlit off balance and how WKlit feared getting clipped by Fury.

I thought that Povetkin v WKlit was far more horrendous.

I think that Fury may stop him the second time around. But, I may change my mind a few times between now and then.

seems odd to have sparring organised before
the fight is made.

wlad needs to be aggressive, not tactical. if he
does not come out gunning, then no sparring
with 7feet people will help a thing.

Rubbish.

Wlad was clearly affected by not having reach advantage - and struggled to make opportunities for himself.

Clearly they are going to try and execute a gameplan that involves Wlad fighting on the inside, and taking the fight to Fury - that isn't really in Wlad's nature, so is going to take tactical adjustments.

Personally I think Wlad is too cautious to achieve that, but obviously, they want him to try doing so against men as big or bigger than Fury.

To me it is indicative of the fight going ahead, barring an injury of course, with only the finer details of when and where still to be agreed on and set in stone.
The size of the fella I know going to spar with Wlad is an indication that it is obviously to do with Fury, apart from the obvious rematch clause that we all know about.

Even if the finer details still need to ironed out, and even considering something from left field might prevent the fight from taking place, planning still needs to be put in place with the view to it happening. This shows to me that things are beginning to move ahead, out of the public spotlight.

Hope the fight won't happen. I can see more action in one round of Ike-Tua than in whole Fury-Wlad fight. I really do not get why the are getting such ridiculous paydays. I mean, I know TV are paying most of it, but that means that either TV management keeps making completely wrong business decisions for years (as this is not the first awful fight by Wlad)... or there are actually somewhere people willing to watch it.

Wlad has a huge following in Eastern Europe, I think people tune in to watch him no matter what.

Sven Ottke was a huge star in Germany, despite being one of the most boring long term champions ever. He made Virgil Hill look like Rocky Graziano.

Jeez. Then don't watch it. Simple.
Nobody is holding a gun to your head. :-?

Other people will want to watch it. I will.
It would be weird for a long reigning heavyweight champion not to try and avenge a loss. Boxing has a long history of this.

Agreed, I won't watch it but Wlad deserves a rematch. Ike/Tua might be the most overrated fight in history.

my naive opinion is that there is one thing
and one thing only that can turn this around
for wlad and that is someone like teddy atlas
who doesn't talk tactics and reach and so on
and so forth, but makes him ... fight. as he
did with michael moorer in his championship
winning bout.

i am not advocating that tactics are not an
important part of boxing but in this one they
are not the crucial thing. he will not get past
fury's reach if he is not willing to get hit. but
this is the very thing he has been successful
in avoiding for more than a decade. so he must
enter a state of mind where being hit is part of
the equation and not the end of it.

i would be very surprised if a series of technical
adjustments would make a difference. wlad has
to find that famous "it" within himself and the
only way to do so is brutal honesty without
tactical sugar coating in camp.

Wlad doesn't have 'it', never did. I disagree though, all he needs to do is punch Fury in the face.
