Re: Luis Ortiz is the best heavyweight in the world

He does not have the resume to justify this statement. However, he would be right there with any HW in the world. But we really do not know.

If you beat Jennings, without Jennings having an unexpected injury, you simply do have the resume of a top 10 heavyweight. Also, he didn't just win against Thompson, he knocked him to the ground every two rounds, that's impressive, I've never seen anyone else doing that.Lancenix wrote:He does not have the resume to justify this statement. gerry at his prime weight around 225, ortiz now at his prime ways around 240koolkc107 wrote:As hard as Ortiz punches, and we know it is very hard, I doubt it is anywhere near Gerry Cooney's power.
Larry handled that pretty easily.
Freedom wrote:Joshua to preserve his career had better stay away from Ortiz. Comparing Ortiz to Holmes, no way they are two different style fighters. Ortiz is more like a George Foreman with power in every blow, though we shall see just how tough with the next top level fights. A good fight for Ortiz would be with Kubrat or Browne.
Thompson was so decayed last night. If you are impressed by that than you would be impressed by a Pinto with no wheels. Don't know what to tell you man you are eaSily impressed.asdfjkl wrote:If you beat Jennings, without Jennings having an unexpected injury, you simply do have the resume of a top 10 heavyweight. I like his skills and him overall but he fights in very short spurts and sometimes you wonder where is the action? Why is he not letting his hands go on this guy?? His left hook is real nice and I do like him. Imagine if he came to the US when he was 25. Now he is 36. He needs this to happen soon. And by the way you do not take a drug like Nandrolone on accident. That shows me that he knows his age is a factor. All I am saying is this. last night showed us nothing because Thompson is so decayed. He basically took on a glorified sparring session for the money. Just a punching bag. He looked all of 44 and more.Chepppaaa wrote:dont you see his skillsLancenix wrote:Thompson was so decayed last night. Who is NOT a doper ? Some just do too much and/or not very skillfully.Taki... wrote:So, Ortiz would beat prime Holmes and Holyfield but Wilder would have a good shot at beating him?![]()
If he was better than everyone else he wouldn't have needed to dope. No credit for dopers. Ever.
Did you see Wilder against a puncher or against an A level fighter ?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:So beating Thompson bumped him over wilder? Lol, very solid fighter. Yet to see him against a puncher. I'm sticking with Joshua for now.

I think Gerry had better opposition by far.Chepppaaa wrote:gerry at his prime weight around 225, ortiz now at his prime ways around 240koolkc107 wrote:As hard as Ortiz punches, and we know it is very hard, I doubt it is anywhere near Gerry Cooney's power.

gerry had a 77% and ortiz a 81 %...there is no much difference, i would more tend to ortiz simply because he was the heavier bigger man
This is exactly why I said David Haye should fight him, Haye claims to be some top contender with currently low ranks, he's even already talking about unifying belts. I hope Haye fights Briggs and after that Ortiz (assuming he wins against Briggs).Badhusker wrote:Ortiz has some very good skills. Not terribly fast, but has good combinations and a decent jab. If I were to guess where his shortfall may come is possibly stamina against a guy that is very busy, and has a good punch. Ortiz sweats a ton even after a round or two, and would guess he would gas late. Hope he gets in good shape, or is in better shape than he looks. Very good heavyweight. Hopefully he will get some of the top 10 or top 5 guys soon.
Scott looked like shit against Thompson recently.Lancenix wrote:Thompson was so decayed last night. If you are impressed by that than you would be impressed by a Pinto with no wheels. Ridiculous comment. The 'everyone is doing it, I just got caught' excuse is utterly pathetic. The bans for doping in pro boxing are so laughable no-one gives too much of a sh1t if they get caught.
And apparently plenty of fans don't give a sh1t either...
Noooo. I would be surprised at that. Fast fres at this age? That would be bad for Ortiz.marvelous marv wrote:I see a guy like Fred oquendo making him very ordinary in a messy 12 round split decision.
