Your ignorance of trained athletes is surely the disgrace.
You don't have to be an expert on training regimes to know these guys can run further than that. Even if one of them does look a tad flabby.
I'm a 15st 7lb (98.5kg) 35 year old, who does very little training and likes pies and I can run 5 miles.

I think 10 milws is about the point where Fury overtakes Klitschko. Wlad is simply more muscled and got a more normal shape body. Fury got really long legs and arms and isn't muscled, so he won't be fast, but he won't run out of energy fast either.

I work in the world of pipework, bolts and spanners.
Nobody is more frustrated with the UKs snail like transition to the metric system.
We started moving to metric before I was born and still haven't got there and i'm almost 36

He should retire. The division is so much better off without him.

Whilst Wlad may be a far more impressive specimen visually (no homo) , i'd be willing to put my neck out and say Fury is the fitter man of the 2, especially in regards to boxing related stamina.
Appearences can often be deceptive, and whilst i admit there have been several time Tyson has more than let himself down, when he is in a big fight he really does perform like he is in terrific shape. Do you think he got to the top on technical skills alone?

So i think the answer is that either are more than capable of pulling on a pair of shorts and running 10+ miles fairly easily.
Are you 6'6" 250-pounder ? Also, the OP needs to define "running". Any athlete at this level can jog for 30-40 minutes, but can Fury run with a decent speed for so long ?
i just meant what kind of routine can
they sustain on a daily basis in camp.
and i guess "running" for boxers always
means more or less ... "jogging".
still doubt that wlad can do daily 10m
or fury daily 5. don't think a 250pound
frame can sustain that and especially not
tyson's.
Why do you think Wlad could regularly run further than Fury? Based on watching them fight - each other and others - it's pretty clear that Fury has the better cardiovascular fitness. Flabby Tim Witherspoon was also much fitter than the sculpted Frank Bruno too. If we're talking about the clearly overweight Fury who fought Joey Abell, then my money would be on Wlad, but at 250lb or thereabouts, Fury is in great shape, however he might look.

i started the thread to get opinions like
yours. i for one think wlad is a tremendous
athlete and i do not think at his age his
physique comes naturally without hard work.
i figure he is a gym rat and spends sbstantial
time to be in shape in and out of camp. but
you have a very good point in looks might
be deceiving.
stamina wise i am not sure. wlad-fury did not
require too much. they neither bounced, nor
hit, nor had to absorb punishment. they basically
stood in front of each other for 36 minutes.
i think fights can be very different in terms of
required stamina. in recent years i developed
the prejudice that heavies don't work much.
seeing people clearly overweight like arreola
or samuel peter in title fights felt
very different
from holy or mike tyson.
i was wrong with fury from the get go, very
easily i'm being totally wrong again with
questioning his fitness.

- This a bit of a rhetorical question generating non-sequitur type responses.
Long distance running has very little to do with boxing ability. Might as well ask who can bench press the most or swim the farthest. I'd pick Wlad over Fury in a decathlon, but look what happened their first fight. Though used in the past as a tool to condition out of shape fighters, most modern trainers can work around it because asking fighters who may not possess good running mechanics to run long distances under often poor circumstances is a recipe for injuries that lead to fight cancellations, a poor business model. I doubt Wlad and Vitali did much of it after they took over their own conditioning.
If running had a good business model that could maximize the benefits of a run, running up a mild grade at altitude on a good trail in nice weather would be it. I'd say a brisk walk on a tread mixed in with stationary cycling would be safer benefits. A comprehensive circuit training program using light weights on a good weight machine is the best all around conditioning for boxing. Of course nothing replaces shadow boxing, bagwork, or sparring.
I wouldn't ask a fighter to skip rope either unless it was just something that gave him some joy. Also abs are more show than functional these days. Dempsey, Louis, Robinson, ect, they weren't exactly washboards in the abs department and took plenty of body shots and fought plenty hard. Jack Johnson did little running in leadup to Willard, preferring to swim 2 hours every day in the Caribbean, yet he fought at a high pace for over 20 rounds before Willard knocked him out.
Years back Michael Jordon released his typical preseason training program, so you'd think it would include a lot of running since that's what basketball players are doing the most, but it didn't. I could have done it easy right then and there and more, yet nobody confuses me with Jordon. He had other things going for him, but not baseball(j/k). Running as pertaining to boxing much ado over nutin'.

How far does Fury run every day in training? Depends how fast the hedgehog is.

Fury does go jogging, but fitness wise this sort of stuff is probably more useful.

Fury isn't strong and because he isn't muscled he got a good stamina. This, combined with his unnormal reach make him close near unbeateble in a 12 round fight. He can hit his opponends from a mile away. That's also why he wanted Haye so badly for such a long time. Somehow pussy Haye realised that and because of that run away like a scared coward even before getting in the ring at all.

He didn't even destroy Valuev, who was similar reachwise, but far far stiffer, and without half the defense.

In fact Valuev should have won that fight in my opinion, while that same Valuev should have lost his match before against Holyfield. In other words, a 46 or something Holyfield is better as a prime Daffy Haye.

In fact a very sick Valuev DID win that fight but was robbed by the judges. I analyzed that fight blow by blow and basically all Haye did all night was run away and then land one single very good punch.

Oh man, Gerry Cooney, so mismanaged, including by himself. He could have and should have been champ. If u don't know who he was look at his fights on the internet. Look at Cooney vs Ken Norton. Nobody hit harder.

How much has that teeny weeny Rockland County, NY wife messed up Wlad's head?
