Ricky Hatton up in weight for that fight. JMM up 2 weight classes. Keep going. You are proving my point more and more. Not that hatton was all that great to begin with.
Marquez wound up knocking out Manny Pacquiao and fighting him dead even pretty much at that same weight class where he was shut out against Floyd.

Ricky Hatton isn't an ATG fighter, but he was a very good fighter, and was the physically stronger man in the Mayweather fight. Mayweather was just the better fighter. Weight isn't a determining factor when 2 guys are the same size. Look at the fight between Mayweather and Hatton does it look like Mayweather has some big size advantage to you in that fight...or any advantage at all? If it does you need your eyes checked.

To this day nobody has ever beaten Marquez as decisively as Floyd beat him. That's gotta be worth something.
What did Pac do to Hatton I forget?? You are right let us talk about different Floyd fights like Henry Brussels and Victirino Sosa. I mean these guys will be in the boxing hall of fame in no time right?? LOL
Did I say that every fighter he beat was a Hall of Famer? No fighter that ever lived fought great fighters every time out.

Outside of Lucian Bute it was the best fighters the Super Middleweight division had to offer at the time.
Exactly. The division pretty much sucked. Exactly my point.
It was arguably the most talent rich time in the Super Middleweight divisions history...granted that's a short history, but still.

"Narcissistic"? I don't think that word means what you think it does. Why do you make a post about Boxing, then bring up MMA fighters?
Perhaps the phrase you are looking for is "Fair Weather Fans".
Boxing has changed dramatically of the past 35 or so years. The fall of the Soviet Union has at least doubled the talent in the professional pool, and the explosion of alphabet organizations has made it where the top 5 fighters can get a belt and dodge each other.

Yes, Chauvinistic is the word he/she were looking for. Not narcissistic.

Not sure that would be true either. A lot of Americans have cheered for Lennox Lewis, Pacquiao and others. I don't think a Polish or Ukrainian fan is likely to root for an American or Bahamian against one of their countrymen.

Here's what I know.... It took wayyy too long for Floyd to agree to fight pacman. Ruined the fight... Cotto refused to fight GGG... Stevenson dodged Kovalev..... Alvarez is dodging GGG.... Jacobs and Quillan from the bad inner city of America won't fight GGG.... Crawford's promoter is ruining him by not making fights, instead we get that crap against and overmatched Lundy.... Wilder was allowed to hold the WBC title hostage and defend it against bums for too long. One fight OK but 3??..... Not to mention Santa Cruz who will be happy going his whole career and not fighting the best over and over....Fury stripped without even getting a chance to defend one of his belts....... There is more but this enough to start with the problem in boxing.

There's always been problems in Boxing though I accept there seem to be more now, big fights between top fighters used to be made more easily it seems. The television situation in the UK is ludicrous as well. It's clear to me Golovkin is the top man at middleweight and Canelo is a very popular and high earning light middle who is able to get a weight advantage over most opponents.

One of the are and few times I'd ever agree with Bnov but he is on to something with this thread, there is much hate and disdain towards certain boxers in general especially hee in the USA.

It's sad but as long as people are going to nitpick there will always be hate and disdain for certain fighters.

I agree with Trump on the border. I am for that in the US 100.

As far as Trump bringing jobs back? I find it funny that he has lines of products and clothes and he chooses to have them all made in China and Mexico. For the way he is talking that is kind of sad. And he also employs a ton of workers on work visas instead of employing Americans. Although the alternative in Hillary Clinton one of the worst and nastiest liars I have ever seen. Truth is that America has 315 million plus people or so and when that is what you have to pick from for a President, the last 6 candidates, That is really, really SAD.

I have to agree that there is always some sort of criticism of 'British or Euro decisions' in terms of fight outcomes on euro soil.
As we know the results on the other side of the pond are all completely fair and legitimate. 'Hometown decisions' are something invented by the modern day Europeans and not our older generation cousins, shame on us.

I did notice in this thread that yet another person who was dumping on a Mayweather's resume was challenged to name someone in the same era with a better resume and did not have an answer.......end.......argument.

I think the OP has a point, though typically his over the top style and misuse of words destroyed his overall credibility. As a boxing fan, it's tiresome sifting through so much negativity about boxing just to find a few insightful posts from thoughtful fans. Why does every fighter suck so much in fans estimation in boxing?? That just doesn't seem to be the case with other sports. We don't have to paint some hyperbolic picture of current fighters as superheroes, but we can enjoy the talent pool that's out there, it's not that bad and it's certainly not decidedly different than in the past.

Take a look at any older fighters record and you will see any number of fights against guys that were not near the top of the division. In reality, guys today fight more contenders because they fight less frequently and do so in front of larger audiences that would not abide by a total mismatch, the kind of mismatches that make Crawford-Lundy look like Ali-Frazier.

But anyone who argues that fights aren't made because of fear of damage to ones reputation is off the mark in my opinion, fighters from a certain part of the world are cowards? Good lord. It's not about legacy or fan perception, it's about the money.

Especially in this era most of the fighters are scared to lose and rightfully so! A loss in todays boxing means financial disaster for your career! The

average boxing media will forget about you and bandwagon the next undefeated fighter. The mexican fans stands behind their fighters as well

how many losses for JMM? Canelo has a loss but they still stand behind him.

Now look at the mexican american Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz   american born and raised mexican they threw him under the bus with only 2

losses on his record been fighting on telemundo the past 2-3yrs   Whatever american fans are pathetic. Kovalev should be a bigger star

but he has an accent from Europe, he's a family man=BORING. American media loves for you to be undefeated or top level elite with some TMZish

drama behind you! They want to see Wendy Williams talking about you! I keep stressing to you guys that the general american public totally are the

most materialistic fans with a taste for soap oprah style drama involved. Look at how famous Ali, Tyson, & Mayweather were because of their

outside of the ring drama filled lifestyle. American media boxing media is BUILT on DRAMA in the personal life along with amazing boxing talent!

Even if Ward had stayed active to american public he's a lame! Kovalev a lame! Hopkins a lame! Roy Jones a lame! James Toney a lame! Floyd

be fighting with TI chairs being thrown all over the damn place, fighting with 50cent, going to jail for battery, hopping on his private jets, etc...

Tyson cold-ocking Mitch Green in a street fight, attempted suicide attempt crashing his luxury car head on into a tree, beating up Robin Givens,

going to jail for rape, etc... Ali's brashness outside of the ring knowing how to sell a fight throwing civil rights in the fire, refusing to enlist in the

military due to racism, speaking out on multiple world events, etc... The american public LOVES this stuff! Just flip through your channels

nothing but drama filled reality tv!

Great point about the drama you are dead on there!! Nailed it!! I also said what you have been saying about Americans so obsessed with any fighter losing one fight and then they are done with him. That is why so many Americans are so scared to fight a tough opponent. You are dead on there too.

I will disagree with you on baby Bull though. After the Marquez fight he is just not the same guy and his style was just wrong to be an elite fighter. He got hit way too much. Baby Bull also put on a lot of weight after that loss to marquez. I mean he was beyond flabby. Baby Bull is a smart guy and really I wish he would leave the game. He was trying to be a lawyer I do not know whatever happened to that for him.

How about fighting would that help though?? He has had such a layoff and he had one fight on BET against Smith. To me, guys who go to the announcing booth the way that he did, have one foot out the door sometimes. I do not find him to be a very good announcer either though. No personality AT ALL.
